knowing everything you know now, who and when would you have replaced jake

I will now address these one at a time.

Trent Edwards - not much different than Matt Moore in my opinion and really hasn't accomplished much.

Chad Pennington - interesting option, but I really don't think he brings more than Jake Delhomme does. He's being phased out this year for Chad Henne.

Joe Flacco - addressed above

Michael Vick - no

Brett Favre - lol this after a 4 interception game by Jake

Brady Quinn - lol

Jay Cutler - addressed above. an unrealistic pipe dream

Matt Schaub - yes im sure the falcons would have traded him within the division.

Kerry Collins - i addressed this above, if you'd read the post.

Mark Sanchez - are you kidding me

Matthew Stafford - Unless we sold you into sex slavery I'm not sure what we could have traded for to get here.

Matt Ryan - say goodbye to Otah and Stewart, plus most likely the 2009 first we didn't have.

You are a freaking psycho if you don't think that Edwards is better than Moore. Insane. He's not spectacular, but he's CERTAINLY better than the three qbs on our roster.

Pennington is very good at what he does. He isn't asked to do much and doesn't screw that up unlike Jake who isn't asked to do much and still manages to screw up.

You didn't address Flacco at all. Your explanation for why we shouldn't have drafted him made no sense whatsoever.

Favre/Quinn/Vick: All better quarterbacks than Jake. Even Quinn is. When was the last time Quinn had 11 turnovers in two games? And Quinn still has a huge upside.

Cutler: Only unrealistic for a GM with absolutely no balls like Marty Hurney.

Schaub: You're right, they wouldn't have.

Sanchez/Stafford/Ryan: It would have been very expensive for sure, but if you're serious about upgrading the quarterback position, there were ways we could have drafted one of that bunch.

Lol @ the trent edwards... I listen to the BIlls radio every day and trust me when I say Trent Edwards is nothing. They hate him in Buffalo.. He only looks for check downs, doesn't throw the long ball. You have no idea how unhappy they are with trent in buffalo... the fans of course.

Tonight will be a good test for Trent.

He's gotten banged up a lot in the past few years. Let's see how he does against a div rival in the Patriots with his new Owens toy.

I like that it's basically preordained that we have Delhomme along with possibly the thinnest QB roster in the league. Our great hope at the position is Matt f**cking Moore. Yeah.

Maybe if one of our team's adorable little personality tics wasn't "lol we don't develop QBz" we'd be a little better off. I mean, how do other teams do it? They have mediocre talent at the position that doesn't completely melt down for a quarter of the season, which is ALL WE NEED. Yeah, their guys are only throwing for 200 yards a game and have a 80 QB avg for the game, but they're not throwing 4 picks and dropping the ball for a return TD on a sack.

Jake does this 4 games a year. He is the worst QB in the league, by far, for a quarter of the season.

For all the lol Garcia, lol Thigpen and lol Edwards crap, if one of those crappy, worthless guys could come in here, run our bullsh*t, generic offense without spotting the other team 14 points a game, sign me up.

I can see tying yourself to Jake after the 03/Superbowll performance and the 2005 performance, however after TommyJohns and with the history of that injury, there is no excuse.

Drafting Stewart over Flaco was a fatal move for Fox/Hurney. and then being idiotic/blind enough to give Jake $20 Million guaranteed after last seasons miserable performance has got to be the breaking point. Surely to goodness, enough is enough at this point?

Now we may be trying to trade Stewart or DWill to make up for that mistake after the season is over.

looking at what Trent Edwards did in 2008, I have a hard time believing Matt Moore wouldn't have accomplished similar things, especially considering his offensive weapons.

Pennington is very good at what he does. He isn't asked to do much and doesn't screw that up unlike Jake who isn't asked to do much and still manages to screw up.

I agree that Pennington is better, however I think he and Jake are both in the twilight of their careers. Like I said, he's being phased out for Chad Henne as we speak. Why would you trade Pennington for Jake last year? They both got their teams to the playoffs and lost in the first round.

plus, if pennington is your qb, you basically neuter steve smith, since he can't get the ball deep.

You didn't address Flacco at all. Your explanation for why we shouldn't have drafted him made no sense whatsoever.

If you're saying the Panthers should have drafted Flacco instead of Stewart, then made the trade for Otah, then I agree. However, Flacco doesn't start last year, his progression would be significantly different, and you would still have all the problems on offense that plagued the Panthers yesterday.

if you think that Jake was the only thing wrong yesterday than I have a bridge to sell you. The Panthers problems go far beyond Jake.

Favre/Quinn/Vick: All better quarterbacks than Jake. Even Quinn is. When was the last time Quinn had 11 turnovers in two games? And Quinn still has a huge upside.

at no time in history has Mike Vick been a better quarterback than Jake Delhomme, unless you're overly enamored with running stats for some reason. Furthermore, do you really think that Richardson would have allowed him to come into this organization?

Favre isn't a long term solution, and don't make me laugh about Quinn. He's a joke.

Cutler: Only unrealistic for a GM with absolutely no balls like Marty Hurney.

the Broncos received a 2009 and 2010 first, plus a young, competent QB. now which things do we not have?

Sanchez/Stafford/Ryan: It would have been very expensive for sure, but if you're serious about upgrading the quarterback position, there were ways we could have drafted one of that bunch.

I'm trying to be realistic here. Detroit was dead set on stafford and rightly so. Atlanta wasn't going to pass on Ryan (they've said as much numerous times) and Miami wasn't going to budge on Long. Maybe you can fleece the Rams to grab Ryan, but then you're saying goodbye to Otah and Stewart.

Can we at least wait until week 2 before we start annointing mark sanchez

I don't understand why poeple here aren't willing to give Matt Moore a chance? All your other selections look like crap to me... I mean come on!!

Jeff Garcia?

Gus Furotte or whatever?

GIVE ME A BREAK.. Matt Moore has a much better chance at being successful and a future option that those guys.

Don't forget about Sanchez guys. The Jets had the balls to pull off a trade for a franchise quarterback. We didn't. You could argue that the Browns wouldn't have given up the pick since we didn't have a first-rounder, but again, that is the fault of Marty Hurney.

yes if only we could draft like the jets

and guys, the jake delhomme contract looks brutal now, but keep in mind it's only a 3 year deal in essence, they saved cap room by doing it, and with an uncapped year next year they can just cut him and move on without a hit.

I mean honestly it was probably the 3rd worst contract from 2008-2009
