The Importance of Speedy Receivers

A fast WR who can actually catch does exist and is more optimal than simply having someone who can merely get open.

A speedy WR who can catch reliably?!?!  Wow, that would be an embarrassment of riches, maybe even an unfair monopoly over the rest of the league.  They would sue us for unfair competition!  LOL.

And what would we have to gripe about here on the Huddle?!!  Our ability to whine and complain about anything is already becoming severely endangered.  Heck, we're routinely congratulating Shula.  I NEVER would have believed it until I saw it with my own eyes!

The best player available is a little overstated.  Gettleman probably wouldn't take a qb in the first or second round even if the thought that qb was best player available.  I think that Gettleman has some players he targets for each round that he thinks are bpa or at least in the neighborhood of the bpa.  Team needs are probably a factor, but not as big a factor as most here would want.

Ginn has been the missing piece.  Those crossing routes are lethal and will only get tougher on defenses when they have to cover KB and Funch 1v1 down the field.  It's truly amazing how Cam is playing in a clean pocket.. And the best has yet to come

That BPA poo is wore out.

Do you guys honestly think David fuging Mayo was the BPA in the 5th round of this years draft?  I don't think so.

How would anyone know?  Did you honestly think a Coastal Carolina CB with a 4.66 40yd dash to be the BPA in the 5th?

IMO, the perfect receiver for Cam would be someone who was a route runnig specialist with reliable hands. Mixed with the read option fakes and Cam's uncanny ability to put the ball in the perfect position, they would be open (or thrown open) more often than not. Imagine if Cam had a guy like Edelman or pre-injury Welker.

As far as the draft. I believe we will get some offensive lineman for depth, nickel corner, #2 TE to groom behind Olsen, and probably some special team ace. I think that would be a very successful draft.

I think we'll see Gettleman draft a space eating DT, another pass rusher and possibly our next center this draft. I don't expect to it be a very "sexy" draft.

Unless maybe Su'a Cravens falls into our laps!

I agree. I am certainly part of the BPA crowd, but what defines "best" for Gman certainly has something to do with need.

I really want Su'a Cravens to take that Roman Harper role for the future

I personally think we should focus on adding pieces in the draft other than receiver. I see lots of offensive/ defensive linemen coming.

Also, just to clarify, I love KB and was definitely not saying we are better without him.

Honest question, cus I dont follow college football, but any idea what this coming draft will be like in the trenches? Like... will it be a good year to draft for the trenches?

In 2013, people were bitching about drafting AJ Klein in the 5th round a year after grabbing Luke. I'd said he's done OK for a 5th rounder. Best player available...maybe not, but I'm still waiting to see about Mayo. he's been pretty good on ST this season.
