When it comes to the Panthers, he is not terrible. HIs coverage and the Observer's coverage of the Panthers in the offseason is complete garbage.

If you follow him on twitter, he is constantly pushing his race agenda. He tries to turn everything into a race argument.

I follow him on Twitter and nothing really sticks out with the Panthers and race. Could you cite some examples for me?

David Newton is just a crap football "journalist". He's out of his element covering this sport.

With Joe Person, his antics are tolerated because that is what the Charlotte Observer wants. They don't care if an article paints the team in a negative light as long as it generates some publicity for their publication. It's a shame, but that's ultimately the truth.

I don't mind Newton being crap and out of his element.. But its the constant shots he takes at cam that get annoying. Like when cam went to the hornets/warriors game.. He tweeted that cam should be studying film. And when cam got hit by three saints at once and threw an incompletion and pounded the ground, Newton made it sound like cam was being childish for throwing a bad ball

Those kinda things are annoying because this is the guy they chose to follow our team and he clearly has a problem with the best player on it

Ultimately, that is their job though. They are not supposed to be fans of the team. Their job is to cover the team. That means both the positive and the negative. I agree he went a little too far, but if someone like Gantt gets the story that concussion protocol wasn't followed properly then Person and Jones have to answer to their editors about why they didn't get the story first and "I didn't want to upset Ron" is not a valid excuse. Concussions are a hot button issue and Cam is probably the leading MVP candidate on the hottest thing in town. He has to follow up on that.

Person isn't a fan of the Panthers. He's just out here trying to find anything to latch onto to advance his career. He's basically like a tabloid guy.

None of these guys are fans of the Panthers, and they aren't supposed to be.

They are sports journalists. Big difference.

I don't want non-objective hacks like the Patriots have covering the team. That's what fans are for.

Not upsetting your boss is not a good reason to be a douchebag. But I'm sure a journalist would agree with your point of view.

Yeah, I agree with you. I just don't like reading articles about the panthers and thinking the writer has an agenda. It's gotten to the point where anything David Newton writes is going to seem like a shot at Cam even if there isn't one

I wasn't saying that to mean that they should be. Person just seems like a guy that's constantly reaching for something. Newton is a guy that just constantly takes sneaky shots at cam.

Personally, I think Person sucks and I applaud Ron for going after him, but from a journalistic point of view I do think he did what he supposed to do even though going back to it a third time was really pushing the line of what's appropriate.
