That's shoulder bud. His right shoulder. Only reason it looks like anything other than is because Cam saw him at the last minute and lowered his head and shoulder to take the hit.

Again, I'm willing to wager he doesn't see a fine for the hit. I thought it was a clean hit. Cam never even hinted that it was anything other than a clean hit, saying he deserved it. If they fine him, I'll admit I was wrong and never post here again.

I can't get the angle from the other side.

I'm not arguing he should be fined, or that it should have been a penalty. But I saw it myself as it happened, from both angles, the defender without a doubt lowered his helmet. This wasn't as quick of a "bang bang" type play as you would assume. Was it intentional? I don't know, but like I said, he had enough time to come across the end zone just to tackle Newton, it didn't have to end up being a helmet to helmet.

Regardless, that was rather tame compared some of the other shenanigans going on in that game with guys like Vaccaro.

But hey, it's on to Atlanta now.

I must have missed a lot of the extra curricular stuff with Vacarro. I saw Turner go after him once but I wasn't sure why. I know he can be pretty edgy. And he's a douchebag. But didn't see much of went on that has people talking.

Fug Atlanta.

He's talented honestly, but that boneheaded stuff after the whistle is a big factor in why you guys have 8 losses.

In general your defense had some bright spots, but they just couldn't stop shooting themselves in the foot.

Lets be real clear about Cam's comments, he said he deserved it. Why??

Because he was staring down a defender to make a point as he let up ignoring the field in front of him which opened himself up for the big shot.

That is why Cam said he deserved it, not because it was a legal/illegal/dirty/clean play.

He got  cocky a little too early and paid for it.  He wont do that again.

Helmet to helmet contact is legal on a runner. Cam was clearly a runner at the point of contact and honestly its Cam's fault he took the shot by not being fully aware of the field of play. You can watch his face from the replay and see him looking towards the middle of the field and doesn't notice the linebacker till right before he gets hit.

Please cite your work. I can't find the rule where you can use your helmet to tackle the other guy's head.

OK, OK... I think that the vast majority of posters agree that this was a legal and nasty hit. Cam sets himself up for these every time he takes off running, it's part of football.  I think that the point of the thread is that saints fans suck in general and are, for the most part, far more excited over getting a good lick on Cam than the fact that the taints actually played a hell of a game yesterday against the best (check the record naysayers) team in the NFL. Most people doubted that it would be so close. You don't see (or at least I haven't seen) Huddlers going crazy over the thumping TD put on Brees with that sack. It was much harder than the one that broke Romo last week. that's because Huddlers, for the most part, don't suck!

I like him. I wanted to shoot him yesterday when he handed that ball to Ginn though. How stupid do you have to be? The ref was right there!

I think the defense is talented in a few spots. Cam Jordan is a beast. Anthony is the real deal. So is Breaux. Kikaha looks to be solid against the run and able to affect the passer every now and then. Vacarro is about as good as an in the box safety as you'll find.

But this defense is going nowhere as long as Browner is on the field. He's the worst corner I've ever watched. It's not even close. It's like we're playing with 10 guys every snap and getting a penalty from the guy who isn't on the field 2 or 3 times a game.

Yeah that's the angle I was looking for.

Looks pretty damn clear. Definitely lowered, and led with the helmet.

Yup, that's not a shoulder.  Still, I don't care.  While there was a bunch of chippiness in the game, I don't think that helmet to helmet was in the least bit intentional or dirty.  Mauti might get a fine with it, but I don't think so honestly.

Damn that slow motion makes it look awful. Can't believe he wasn't concussed on that. Pretty sure that hit would knock me out cold, but I'm not afraid to admit I'm a lesser man than Cam Newton.

Definitely was a clean hit, would have hit the should area if Cam didn't crouch down to brace for the hit.

I spent 4 years down in "Saints country" and none of those comments surprise me. I saw a good bit of it on my Facebook; their fans celebrating that hit.

I hope Cam continues to torch and pull out wins against that team. I dislike that team and their fan base more than any team.

Saints fans have to be some of the worst in the league.  It's sickening how many of them are basically wishing serious injury on another human being.  I hate many NFL players ( including mole face Bree's ) but I do not want to see the guy get hurt or anyone else I despise for that matter.  As much as I can't stand some of Bree's antic's I still praise the guy all the time as being a future hall of famer.  The butt hurt on that forum stinks about as bad as that cease pool they call a home in Louisiana.   Fug 'em all.  t.(^^.t)
