Atlanta Talk...the fans and media want to trade away Matt Ryan

I just want to say whatever happens that's good for the Panthers to win the division every year, I'm for. If the Falcons would somehow be worse without Ryan (which might be true given just how hard it is to find a good QB in this league, as mediocre as he's been recently), let's all throw a garden party and make a toast.

Listening to their sports radio here.  Everyone is pilling in on trading away Matt Ryan this offseason. It is pure entertainment!

Names they are throwing out are:

RG3 (imagine reuniting him with Kyle Shannahan, lol)

Colin Kap

Eli Manning

Johnny Manzell

And they are scared of the Panthers, no doubt, lol, if you can find the stream to listen online, it's great! 9.29 the game.

I like joking about Matt Ryan as much as any Panthers fan, but I'd LOVE for the Falcons to make any of those trades.  Any GM who would give up Ryan in a trade for any of those guys (except for Eli and that ain't happening) should be fired immediately and never be considered for another position in football.

I think we've always knew Ryan was overrated and has benefited from having guys like Gonzalez, Turner, White, and Julio to bail him out, but he's not THAT bad and the Falcon fans are just crazy.  Ryan is definitely a top 15 QB, he's just not elite like they thought.

I was reading their board last night. Very depressing.

theyre realizing, though, Matt isn't good enough to lead a team on his own. He can't take over a game. You see that ability in both Cam and Drew, and Jameis has shown glimpses(especially yesterday). You can tell a lot about a team by their QB. It's no coincidence the Falcons are perceived as soft. Ryan is soft. You have to build damn near a perfect team, and then Ryan can possibly get them there. Their defense is real good now, but it's still not enough.

With all that said, I still wouldn't trade or get rid of Matt yet if I was the Falcons. Not a lot of good QBs out there, and Matt is good. They'd be foolish to get rid of him

There's been some chatter that Matt Ryan is having trouble with Kyle Shanahan's system.

I would say so just based on the sample size we have from Shanahan this season.  It is interesting the run game has also fallen off the last 5 weeks for them, beginning of the season they were wide open with it, now they are throwing about 70% of the time.  Coleman has had issues with ball security but Freeman generally runs pretty well.  With Ryan's woes and the running game falling apart, the Oline would seem to me to be the prime problem.  Having said that, though, consensus is that Roddy White and Shanahan do not get along, and White is disgruntled.  Sounds like Julio isnt happy either.

All of it makes me happy though.  Good times in the house of Blank!

Totally agree with this.  They built a winner around him so quickly with free agent talent when he was drafted that he got spoiled with all the veteran leadership, and he never had to speak up. With most of those guys gone it seems we are seeing the real Matty Choke now.

Nonetheless, I could not conceive of them dumping him (especially with that contract - over the next 2 years he will count 29M of dead money towards the cap ) to take a shot on someone like Manziel, Cousins, RGIII, or Kaepernick.  They would be better off taking their lumps with a newbie in the draft this year and allowing the QB to develop a year or so with Ryan being the heavy bag behind that pourous Oline.

Matt Ryan is just another one of of those upper-tier Quarterbacks that can put up numbers, but aren't winners.

I'm looking at Matthew Stafford, Phillip Rivers, Tony Romo, Matt Ryan, Jay Cutler.

They have talent, they have physical ability through the roof, but they don't have "It". And most of them are 30+, you don't just suddenly develop that "It" factor that late in your career. Those quarterbacks are what they are, and they're not going to suddenly blossom into winners.

Simply put, Matt Ryan is just another quarterback that can win you some games, but he's not a winner.
