Atlanta Talk...the fans and media want to trade away Matt Ryan

Listening to their sports radio here.  Everyone is pilling in on trading away Matt Ryan this offseason. It is pure entertainment!

Names they are throwing out are:

RG3 (imagine reuniting him with Kyle Shannahan, lol)

Colin Kap

Eli Manning

Johnny Manzell

And they are scared of the Panthers, no doubt, lol, if you can find the stream to listen online, it's great! 9.29 the game.

I heard this on the way to work this AM on 92.9.  The fans and sportscasters are out for blood.  After all the Superbowl predictions in the preseason, you would think the team was the CLE Browns now.  They are really after the OC in addition to Ryan.

I dont like Matty Choke at all, but this isnt all his fault, the GM should have been fired with Smith - he drafted poorly for years and spent a ton of money on bust FA signings.  They gave Ryan a huge deal so I doubt they dump him quick, or if they do they have a lot of dead money.  The only fan who called in who made any sense at all was one who pointed out their Oline has been dogsqueeze for years now, and that is a valid point.

One thing that has always struck me as putting extra pressure on the team is that Blank blackmailed the city into giving him a ton of taxpayer cash for the new stadium and now may not be able to fill the stadium (he also jacked up ticket prices).  Blank may be eating his hat if they dont get the team on the right track.  Frankly nothing would make me happier because Blank is a total scumbag.

There's been some chatter that Matt Ryan is having trouble with Kyle Shanahan's system.

Falcons fans thought they were going to ascend to the NFC South perennial playoff team as Brees retired and Matty Melt down entered his "prime".  Instead, they've watched Cam and the Panthers become that team, while their QB seems to regress every year.  And suddenly the other team that didn't even have a franchise QB, now has one who in his rookie year is performing at a higher level.  OUCH!

I think the fans are feeling the pressure of Cam and Jameis Winston in that division. Just when they thought they could alternate division titles with Cam with Brees passing his prime, then all of a sudden a 21 year old franchise QB pop outta nowhere ready to squeeze them out. Nothing wrong with Ryan, just he's not up to the level of Cam and Winston, thus leaving no room for him in this competitive division. Ryan would be a star in the NFC East or AFC South. As far as the NFC South is concerned Carolina and Tampa will alternate division title and wild card, don't see us sending 3 teams to the playoffs every year.

Slow your roll, let Tampa beat us for a division title before declaring we gonna alternate titles with them.  Winston has had a decent rookie campaign but it doesn't compare to Cam's rookie year.  It's taken until Cam's fifth year for him to really come into his own.  Winston isn't going to suddenly be the force Cam has become, once he closes the gap on current experience how much more will Cam have?  I think Jameis will be to Cam what Mickelson was to Tiger, a great player that isn't as great.  We're going to dominate the South for a long time, think Patriots AFC East long time.

3 years / 1000+ days as South champs already.  Do you see us regressing anytime soon?

EDIT: The last time the South had a champion other than the Panthers was 12/2/2012, exactly 1100 days ago.

Winston is nowhere near the level of Cam. And the Bucs won't unseat us anytime soon. Lovie Smith teams always fade.

    • There's some big assumptions in here - first, I think Canales HAS helped Bryce a poo ton. To pretend he hasn't is asinine. Has he fixed him?  I mean, the dude looks like he could perhaps be a backup or low-end starter now, whereas he looked like he didn't belong in the NFL a year ago. You're talking about a coach that brought one of the worst NFL QBs of all time to a point where he may actually be a low-end starter. That IS impressive. Second, the bolded. Come on - given the offense, the dude is far from "trending towards bust." He definitely needs work but he's shown an impressive ability to get open. He's contributing to an anemic offense. The dude is our leading receiver (though he'll be #2 in yardage by end of season by a little, as Thielen does better per game).  As to his coaching, he had this team competing and believing against 3 of the better teams in the NFL, despite the lack of talent, and despite our QB situation.  Yes, things fell apart vs DAL, and he was outcoached. But that will happen with young coaches IMO.  I don't think it indicates he cant' be better. The idea of "pulling off the bandage" is ridiculous. Who would want to coach here if we fired this guy after one season?
    • Whatever they are in totality the cowboys are beat up all to hell on both sides of the ball and even that was too much for lil Bryce to overcome.  Bryce defenders have to hype up every other team and trash every other part of the panthers just because of the situation they’ve put themselves in.
    • JB had a first round grade in the eyes of a lot scouts based on HIS TALENT LEVEL. If not for the injury he would have gone higher in the draft, possibly between the middle and the end of round 1. To get him just before the 50th pick is a steal. He'd be on a 4 year deal. You can't even renegotiate until the end of the season 3. You're basically paying him nothing for 3 seasons. I don't buy into all back are interchangeable. No they're not. You have average backs, good backs, then your great-exceptional backs. The latter category doesn't grow on trees. If a back is special it pays to keep them. The key is knowing the difference between the first two categories and the third one.
