well i read earlier we have problems with smaller backs,well ward and bradshaw could be considered small and quick.

if he doesnt get surgery now....he defintley wont get it during the playoffs, why not play? that particular injury doesnt heal on its own...so he'll be no better or worse during that span. Also....expecially if its only "partial" tear...hes more than fine....besides...in the nfl.....EVERYONE is one play away from surgery or rehab bro.....hes just slightly weaker in one part of his body....but im telling you, elway played most of his career with a fully torn pcl and if i remember correctly daren sharper has been playing with one for awhile also....its not a devestating injury..

A PCL in and of itself isn't going to stop him but if it decreases lateral stability than it is a huge problem for a running back. Elway once he played with his knee brace lost a lot of quickness and lateral movement (not like he had a lot to begin with). He was a quarterback not a running back who makes their living running the ball and absorbing hits to the knees. For defensive players who are doing the hitting rather than being hit it isn't as bad as well. But when you are constantly getting grabbed and twisted by the leg which puts torque on your knee and the ACL it is another matter.

But I suspect he like Merriman will continue to play as it isn't a particularly painful injury. Plus if I rememebr correctly Merrimen didn't have a PCL or an MCL which creates much less stability.

For that matter, I played sports with a torn ACL back in the day before that surgery became routine and it was fine until I hyperextended my knee or twisted a certain way then it would baloon up on me and I was done for several weeks. Guys play with all kinds of injuries and issues but it doesn't mean they are fine or that they won't injure it further with the next hit. Plus if he is wearing a brace it will limit him significantly. If he isn't then he is an injury waiting to happen.

His style of running dose not favor this injury. Then again its not fully damaged so he can still play but one good hit could mean a years worth of work to come back. Its never good when you have ligament damage because you risk tearing the rest of them if you get hit right and the recovery is very long.

You might see that with a ACL or MCL but really I doubt it will effect cutting or movement latterly as much as will forward. He's burst will be more effected and he is not gonna be able to take as many hits cause his knee want be able to absorb it. Your right about one twist though could cause major damage and put him down for a while. The Pain killers will allow him to play but as what happened to you it could very well swell up and not have full range.

Giants might be better off letting him play when is 100% better. A torn PCL is pretty serious & he could make it worse if he start running more against our hard hitting defense. Giants better complain if they lose & Jacobs hurt his knee even more. But hey, let him play. Just don't whine & complain about the game.
