Fox and Hurney had the right idea...

As much as we want to hate them for it they have actually done a good job of creating a competitive team. Look at the Lions and Texans for example. They draft Joey Harrington and David Carr while we draft Julius Peppers. The Texans were a new team and the Lions were the Lions and we were coming off a 1-15 season. We all know how Harrington and Carr turned out, QB's with few weapons, poor running games, and horrible defenses ruined those QB's careers. Peppers is still with us and is one of the best DE's in the league.

Here's the point, when you are rebuilding a team the best way to do it is from the inside out. Get your lines playing well then add some linebackers and running backs. Then work on the secondary and receivers. Finally, find a QB who has the potential to be an elite guy, sometimes you have to go get him (Marc Sanchez) and sometimes you get lucky (Tom Brady). Teams that used this philosophy effectively were the Patriots, Ravens, Packers, the dolphins are in the process of doing it, the vikings are one QB away and the Jets may have finally found their guy. While in rebuilding mode you have to find a serviceable QB who will keep your team in the game and maybe even help win a few (Jake).

I feel like the Panthers are an elite level QB away from being a great team and a team that can be competitive every year, much like the Vikings we lack a great QB for the future. Is Matt Moore that guy? Maybe, maybe not. But I think Fox and Hurney (or maybe just Hurney) are on the right track, because unless you pull a Peyton Manning out of a hat its better to build a team first then get the QB rather than the other way around. I also think that the QB should have come this year and now it may be too late.

I agree. I don't blame the front office for not drafting a quarterback, just because we had more pressing needs over the offseason and little cap space to fill those needs. Furthermore, we don't need an All-Pro quarterback in this offense. We need someone who can manage the game and not lose it for us.

Jake used to be more than capable at doing that. Now, I'm not so sure.

I'm not sure anymore, either.

Me too. I like Jake, but I don't know what wrong with him. Guess maybe he hasn't recovered from that Cardinals playoff game & I know most can never recovered from that. Maybe he need to bench for awhile until he can regain confidence or not. Our O-Line was terrible too with not protecting him enough, even when he didn't hold the ball too long.

Fixed. I truly believe that Fox and his old-school, stubborn, ultra-conservative style coaching is taking it's toll on the players. They and the fans realize there is too much talent on our roster to be this bad. If the fans have to suffer this type of play through the next two weeks before the bye, then JR should seriously consider making a change at the top. Maybe we should give Ron Meeks a shot on an interim basis, IDK. It sounds crazy, I know, but Fox just doesn't have it anymore IMO.

No No.

When the house cleaning comes.

It needs to be a clean house.

Putting either Meeks or Davidson in charge would be like putting a clean sock on a dirty foot.

Don't doubt that house cleaning is coming either. Our Owner fired his own sons...his SONS...does anyone have any doubt, he won't do the same with Fox/Hurney?

Other teams manage to draft rookie QBs and win.

Other teams manage to overcome injuries to their QB by planning for the future.

Other teams understand this is a QB driven league.

The Panthers, unfortunately, is not one of those teams.

I agree and thats why I threw in that maybe it's just Hurney who understands what he is doing (although probably not). The team is talented, it just is missing on VERY critical piece and John Fox for whatever reason doesn't feel like its a problem.

Of course the problem is cap room. We used it all to resign Gross and Pep. I would love to see us get a decent QB in here today (JG) but the cap room is not there to get what we need.

Speaking of Jake, I was at the game. His throws were way off target. It was not a great defense making those int. it was a guy simple cacthing a ball thrown into his arms.

Jake has lost it. Maybe he will get it back but for now he has lost it.

For Fox to pull him shows just how serious it is.

    • A lot of regular people would like nothing better than this. Can you give me a hand with it? I've been following it for a couple of years now. In this installment, I'm going to share a couple of things that I imagine are essential to a no-win situation. That is probably worth the price of admission by itself. Believe me, I have a really great reputation. It is much more than that shift in this case. It is air tight. There aren't any quick alternatives to that diversity. Do not take that action seriously. In spite of that, I trust them as far as I can throw them. Your knockoff Immediate Matrix choices are more common today. I was worried before that. • Yeah exactly. Nothing as formal as a list but say DM was advocating for Stroud and Fitt Bryce. DM Puka and Fitt Mingo. That would probably stick with Tepp
