Panthers considering a free agent quarterback

Not at all,,,, I dont want that either. I just would rather have a QB come in like Garcia instead of Matt Moore right now since I think that gives the Panthers a much better chance of winning games.

Coming into this season, as a fan, and a paying fan with the talent and expectations of this team the last thing I want to see is an experiment with Matt Moore to see if he is our QB of the future. This gets me back to why I get pissed at Fox/Hurney because of all their failures to have a viable backup and QB of the future on this team. I know they have "tried" but have failed and now we are stuck with no good options.

Now sure, if this season turns into a train wreck then yeah - put Moore in and lets see what we got; but right now - I would much rather have Jake give it a go and should he suck ass again see Garcia come off the bench.

Getting Garcia defeats the porpuse of everything you say. How do you know Moore isn't a viable QB of the future? There is a reason Garcia has played for all the teams he's played for you know? Everyone here always screams at the FO for not taking chances in the draft or with trades... We'll here's the opportunity to take a chance. Start Matt Moore.

BTW, there will be rep for you, for making valid points, once the system is back.

It seems that a lot of posters see no viable option in free agency at QB but I seriously don't see the viable option on the current roster either. If they sign Garcia or Tarvaris at least it looks like the front office is trying (and it might provide Matt Moore with some competition, which could ultimately be beneficial). I think I could sleep better at night if they made a move...maybe.

We don't need competition for Moore -- we need competition for Delhomme.

That's the problem: while Moore could potentially be a good quarterback, no one on the roster is clearly better than Delhomme.

I'm better than Delhomme and I'm not even on the roster! :D

Seriously though, if he plays the same way against Atlanta and we're not at least trying to make a move, I'll be really disappointed.

Garcia would be a stop-gap option like Vinny was two years ago. Gets us to off-season.

them refusing to look at first round QB's is haunting them, especially when you look at so many 1st round QB's taken this decade that are stars now or in the making of becoming one.

Carr was the exception to the rule this decade.

No way somebody hasn't pulled you up on this. Let's list them shall we:

David Carr (backup at his third team),

Joey Harrington (FA)

Patrick Ramsey (backup at his fourth team),

Rex Grossman (backup at his second team),

Kyle Boller (backup at his second team),

J.P. Losman (QB of the Las Vegas Locomotives, whoever they are!),

Alex Smith (backup to Shaun Hill!),

Vince Young (back up to Kerry Collins),

Matt Leinart (backup to Kurt Warner),

JaMarcus Russel (QB of the Raiders).

Yeah, Carr really is the exception to the rule this decade.

So does Moore, and we have him. He should get his chance to shine before anyone else, including the unproven, terrible looking T. Jackson.

Have you even watched Jackson play last season and this preseason?? He has looked damn good, hes young, has not turned the ball over, is mobile as hell, and puts points on the board. Of all the guys that may be available, he is the best.

I don't think many of those guys will come cheap. Where do we get the money from. I know we can have a ticket sale! I'm sure we can get another twenty or thirty thousand tickets for the redskin fans that will be sure to come. We can scalp them for twice the face value and then get another QB. Everybody is happy. Wait a minute never mind the redskins fans have already bought them all. I don't know what to do now.

I dont think getting Garcia defeats what I am trying to say. I dont want to see if the Panthers have a viable QB of the future right now. Sad to say it but Jake is the best option over Moore going into Atlanta.

For the reason's Garcia is not with Tampa anymore and out of Oakland..... I am not an expert; but the way I see it - he got in Gruden's dog house, Tampa fell apart and the ownership cleaned house. Now with Oakland from what I understand he asked out of there cause there was no way he could start with Russell on the team. I am sure he figured somebody would need a QB and after week one he is right. There is also a reason why Moore is #3 and not #2 on the depth chart.

Thans for good conversation.. bottom line is I am pissed off at Fox/Hurney for the team even being in this position. If Jake continues to suck ass, the team goes 0-3 and they havent brought in somebody - then I will be all for seeing what Moore can do.

Sadly, they traded away next years #1 for Everett Brown - which is a whole other topic. I understand they needed insurance for Pep, but come on - they knew he was franchised and in worse case scenario they could do that again next year, or try the trade route again. But I wont bash Fox/Hurney yet on that one cause overall I like what they have done in the draft. Their biggest problem is failing to address the QB position.
