Panthers considering a free agent quarterback

I agree we run a vertical attack Offense and Garciea could not even win the Job in Oak. Gus Frerotte could be a stop gap option. Still I think Coaching could solve Delhommes problem. He is in a slump and needs to be coached out of it.

I disagree. I think his arm strength is also gone way down. There's definitely a difference pre Tommy John and post Tommy John.

Garcia has always been awful playing outside of a west coast offense, and now he's old too. Absolute no :nonod:

Of the guys available, only Joey Harrington and Gus Frerotte are worth much consideration. And neither of them is exactly a winner.

Yeah, I don't know where people are getting the idea that Garcia would fit in with our offense. I would rather just promote Cantwell and find somebody to take his place on the PS.

T. Jackson couldn't even beat out Gus Ferotte, give me a break he's gonna be just another let down QB like Troy Smith and Jamarcus Russel.

Jake Delhomme couldn't beat out Kurt Warner in NFL Europe or Aaron Brooks with the Saints. Sometimes a change of scenery and philosophy isn't such a bad thing. T. Jackson has some upside is somebody that should at least be looked into if Jake continues this turnover trend he is on.

So does Moore, and we have him. He should get his chance to shine before anyone else, including the unproven, terrible looking T. Jackson.

But this is exactly what your getting with any QB you draft! Garcia might play well for a few games, but just like last year he will lose the flame by the end and you'll get the same thing that happened to the bucs. You can draft any QB in college and your never guaranteed even a moderately decent starter. You can say "Matt Moore" isn't the answer, but you have no idea who's the answer till the get out on the field and play.

Garcia is 38, on the end of his career, can't get the job at Oakland... HE is not the answer. Matt Moore atleast provides a glimmer of hope to the future, if we play him that is.

I dont want to be watching a team playing for the future. Not this season, not now. This is why I am not wanting Moore in there vs somebody like Garcia.

AJ Feely will probably get signed by Philly short term, since McNabb is hurt. He went through camp with them. He's another WCO QB like Garcia anyway, not really an option. As previously stated. Several times.

I wouldn't mind Rosenfels, but Minnesota isn't going to trade him because of their ancient starter (who shall remain nameless). TJack isn't the solution for anyone. The only reason TJack doesn't turn over the ball as fast as Jake is he's had less practice.

Jason Campbell? nah, Washington isn't stupid enough trade their starter in season, are they?

<Sitting here seriously considering Matt Leinert. It's true, I have brain damage.

While we're bs-ing about magically aquiring another team's backup, I like the idea of Troy Smith. Ravens won't give him up without a left testicle in trade though.

I agree with Mr. Scot. I simply don't see any viable options out there. Teams with potential starting caliber backups are loathe to get rid of them in season. Unemployed QBs are unemployed for a reason. I would like to see how Moore performs with a week of prep with the first string now that he's matured a bit.

So you want to watch a team that loses and has no future?

Not at all,,,, I dont want that either. I just would rather have a QB come in like Garcia instead of Matt Moore right now since I think that gives the Panthers a much better chance of winning games.

Coming into this season, as a fan, and a paying fan with the talent and expectations of this team the last thing I want to see is an experiment with Matt Moore to see if he is our QB of the future. This gets me back to why I get pissed at Fox/Hurney because of all their failures to have a viable backup and QB of the future on this team. I know they have "tried" but have failed and now we are stuck with no good options.

Now sure, if this season turns into a train wreck then yeah - put Moore in and lets see what we got; but right now - I would much rather have Jake give it a go and should he suck ass again see Garcia come off the bench.
