Panthers considering a free agent quarterback

I thought that bandwagon was called the "Lets be selective with what we've seen with Matt Moore" bandwagon. We've all seen plenty and he's the same QB he was in 2007. He's got a swagger about him, he puts a nice spiral on the ball, and pretty much fails to play QB on an NFL level.

Unfortunately, as bad as he is, he's probably the best option as this point, because A) he'll heave the ball down the field like an idiot (big lucky play potential) and B) he won't let one INT completely ruin his confidence.

That said, on point B, just because it wouldn't shake him, doesn't mean that he'd learn from throwing the INT either. He hasn't shown that he's learned much up to this point, so I don't see how he's going to magically be our franchise QB.

Thats true, but do you think his gameplay or confidence or whatever will change a lil if he was now THE starting QB for us? Not coming in due to an injury to Jake, and not coming off the bench as a 3rd QB. I mean spending the time to try and develope him. Letting him practice with the first team.

If Matt was our #1 guy, I feel he would play a lil better and may not throw for 4 TDs but deff won't put us in the situations we were in yesterday either

I just dont understand if giving a choice between Jeff Garcia starting or Matt Moore why is it that people choose Moore?? He is alright, but I do not see what he has shown us that makes everyone think he is the solution. The panthers have to much talent and should be able to win games now. Garcia would give this team a greater chance at a winning season than Moore.

The big problem is and has been Fox/Hurney have failed to address the need for a QB of the future for the Panthers and now it might be the year if finally comes around to bite them in the ass.

Thats just it, we dont' know if he's the solution because we don't give him the chance to BE the solution. You can never be the solution if you don't get to play. Garcia isn't bringing anything extra to this team, no upside at all. We might as well keep delhomme out there if we are starting Garcia. Give Moore a chance to be the solution. Everyone here is like "Matt hasn't shown me anything" but the fact is he is 2-1 as a starter and thats the only thing we have to base off of him.

Let him play and if he fails, he fails, and it's not different than having played Delhomme or Garcia anyway.

Let's seriously not get into the Cutler thing. Cutler is a good NFL QB, and Jake is clearly done. The only similarity between them is that they both stunk it up yesterday. However, he's a Bear and it's a moot point discussing what "could have been" if Hurney had been playing Madden and seen that Cutler's overall was higher than Jake's. We know.

How about we IR McCown and and sign Garcia.. and let him and Moore duke it out.

Garcia has always been awful playing outside of a west coast offense, and now he's old too. Absolute no :nonod:

Of the guys available, only Joey Harrington and Gus Frerotte are worth much consideration. And neither of them is exactly a winner.

I agree we run a vertical attack Offense and Garciea could not even win the Job in Oak. Gus Frerotte could be a stop gap option. Still I think Coaching could solve Delhommes problem. He is in a slump and needs to be coached out of it.

we need a franchise quaterback and that is moore jeff is to old he is 39 and will probaly only last a year

Garcia would be a stop-gap option like Vinny was two years ago. Gets us to off-season.

them refusing to look at first round QB's is haunting them, especially when you look at so many 1st round QB's taken this decade that are stars now or in the making of becoming one.

Carr was the exception to the rule this decade.

How about signing some free agent O-Line talent first?

I don't care if you have a mix of Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, and Johnny Unitas taking the snaps, this team isn't going to go far until the O-Line shows up and starts blocking.

I see your point about the Oline, but would all the guys you just mentioned throw up a prayer or take the sack. That is what makes them better.

without a QB that knows how to read a blitz and check down, any OL is going to get destroyed by a constant Blitz

I agree. Garcia doesn't have much of an arm and hasn't show the ability to win outside of the west coast offense. I don't see how he changes things.

I don't see any available quarterbacks that I'd love to have though! I would like to find somebody with a quick release.
