Panthers considering a free agent quarterback

Knowing the Panthers, they're probably looking at some scrubby free agent nobody's ever heard of. Why? So they can put McCown on IR, promote Cantwell to the roster, and sign a new scrub for the PS!

Seriously though, that's 100% Panthers right there.

And regarding Garcia, and any other QB with at least one win in the NFL as a starter that's in FA... they're all better than what we have. We have, a has-been head case QB that's never going to play well again, a veteran that plays as bad as a rookie, and a young guy that shows nothing.

Honestly, any free agent veteran with starting experience would be an improvement in my eyes, because it's not 100% guaranteed failure like starting Delhomme/McCown/Moore/Cantwell.

I don't think that starting any of them would be 100% complete failure... well maybe McCown :D

What do we have to do to give Moore a chance... Garcia wont' get us anywhere!

I just dont understand if giving a choice between Jeff Garcia starting or Matt Moore why is it that people choose Moore?? He is alright, but I do not see what he has shown us that makes everyone think he is the solution. The panthers have to much talent and should be able to win games now. Garcia would give this team a greater chance at a winning season than Moore.

The big problem is and has been Fox/Hurney have failed to address the need for a QB of the future for the Panthers and now it might be the year if finally comes around to bite them in the ass.

Tavaris Jackson, Kellen Clemens, and Derek Anderson are the only realistic viable options, long-term. We don't have a first round pick next year and the FO has made it clear, they don't believe in draft QBs early...

We may as well get a guy in this year, and quick through a trade. None of the FA available are worth a crap.

Jake isnt going anywhere due to his contract. He will continue to start until he has one more meltdown. If he goes 15-30 190 yrds 0 TD and 2 INT vs Atl, he will still start week 3 vs. Dallas.

That being said, I am officially on the "Lets see what we got with Matt Moore" bandwagon. Jake is probubly better then Moore most of the time but we need to end this "I wonder what Jake is going to show up today..." thinking. Anyone see Cutler last night? He threw 4 pics as well and his team was still in the game. He didn't throw them in his own territory, he didn't throw them on 4 of 6 consecutive drives, and his team should have won. We don't need Drew Brees on this team. Literally all we need is someone that won't LOSE the game for us.

Unfortunatly Jake is doing the ONE thing he shouldnt. We need to start Moore. Lets run the ball 35 times vs. Atl and throw it about 20. If we're losing and need to make a quick play then we can tell him to let it rip down the field. But with DWill rushing and Smitty running routes, just put the ball in their hands and let them do their thing.

Feeley is another one that sucks outside of the west coast offense (Miami fans can tell you that).

Thigpen? To call his last preseason performance awful would be a compliment.

Point blank: There is nobody realistically available via trade or free agency right now that I would have much confidence in, if any at all.

At this point, I'm ready to go with Matt Moore. He'll have some rough spots (everyone does) but McCown is hurt and I'm never in favor of restarting a benched QB (Delhomme included).

I thought that bandwagon was called the "Lets be selective with what we've seen with Matt Moore" bandwagon. We've all seen plenty and he's the same QB he was in 2007. He's got a swagger about him, he puts a nice spiral on the ball, and pretty much fails to play QB on an NFL level.

Unfortunately, as bad as he is, he's probably the best option as this point, because A) he'll heave the ball down the field like an idiot (big lucky play potential) and B) he won't let one INT completely ruin his confidence.

That said, on point B, just because it wouldn't shake him, doesn't mean that he'd learn from throwing the INT either. He hasn't shown that he's learned much up to this point, so I don't see how he's going to magically be our franchise QB.

You can talk about his preseason performance all you want, but when it mattered last season in the regular season, he was pretty damn good most of the time.
