Question about defending the 00 and 01 personnel?

Dont forget how the defense pretty much kept us in it early on, okay 14 points down but after 3 turnovers it could have been a whole lot messier. As for providing tape i dunno, I dont think we learnt anything new about the defencies of the defense that wasnt already known beforehand

We played a hall of fame qb on a field on which he has special mojo. This was the second meeting of division opponent, so if we were going to lose this season, this would have been it. I am even more convinced now we win out.

All I know is when the other team's WR1 or WR2 goes in motion or starts in the slot...our safeties are getting eaten alive.

I think that the zone on that play was the correct call on that touchdown play (that I assume we're talking about). Coleman was just late on the coverage shift.

I saw zone on two long touchdown plays. Payton used these personell groups to force us to into mismatches. I know the NFL is a copy cat league so the question is how do we fix it. Looks like most think Tillmans return is the answer, I'm not so sure.

I'm guessing 00 and 01 refer to the RB in the backfield and whether or not he's back there.

Yes 00 is 5 wide 01 is 4 WR 1RB

We might have given teams tape, but those teams would need a Drew Brees as well which they will not have.

Giving up 280 yards to Brees is not something I am overly concerned about. 2 blunders for a short field td and a defensive td made the game closer than it could have been score wise.

Looks to me that our weakness is over the top of Coleman and Harper. Obviously our pass rush is going to have to make some plays to limit those deep attempts. I think we start seeing CJ return to form...especially with Atlanta coming up.

As has been the case since Tillman went down, teams are almost solely attacking Jones. They know he's the kink in our secondary right now. And we know it. That's why we got beat over the top today. I bet if you look at the blown coverages on deep passes in this game, you'll see that they occurred on the side of the field that Jones occupied the nickel. Why? Because the safety behind him is trying to cover 2-3 guys at once to cover for him.

Once we get Tillman back, we'll be fine. If we get him back....

Our guys just aren't getting home as much as needed late in games.  A stop here or there could be the difference.

That said, we were playing against Brees at home...never easy.

I agree. Brees is special. It doesn't take a genius to pick on our secondary when the slot is being filled by a special teamer, a rookie linebacker, and a guy that was retired a week ago. That being said, Ryan, Winston and Eli are all pretty good QB's (but not Brees good)

It does bear keeping in mind that in spite of their woes this season, New Orleans still had the 2nd best offense in the league going into yesterday's game, I believe.
