On most other teams Ginn would be benched...

No. Im not about to go on a Ted Ginn rant. I'm just going to say that the guy got very little playing time prior to joining the Panthers for a reason. we all know why that is. Don't know why Ron keeps him in the games, whether he feels that Ted will eventually break one or its because there isn't much in the way of options. Whatever the reason, I give Ron props for sticking with Ted, he proved tonight that speed still kills you.

Even dropping the balls, Ginn brings to our offense respect for the deep ball.  It's games like today which keeps teams from consistently putting 8 in the box against us.  All though he dropped the balls, the film will show blowing the doors off of CB's.  That is important in what we do.

Most of the time hes the only guy on the field who can keep the defense from being able to disregard anything that happens more than 20 yards beyond the line of scrimmage.  Even if he drops more than he should at least he's keeping the defense honest over the top which opens things up for the other guys.

Ginn can take the top off the defense. They can't assume he's gonna drop it. What that does is, it spreads out the coverage and can open up things underneath. He can drop it 10 times in a game but that one catch still means 6 pts. Think about all the times our defense, which is VERY good, got beat long this year? Desean Jackson, Brandin Cooks, etc, these guys pressure the deep ball every play by just being on the field. Ginn is that guy.

The same Ted Ginn that everyone pretty much unanimously agreed provided that spark the Panthers offense and special teams was missing last year.

Ginn provides something that the defense must account for and that's his speed which can take the top off the defense and open things up for everybody else.

Brenton Bersin is a very nice possession receiver, but he doesn't provide any explosion to the offense whatsoever and doesn't stretch the field for Olsen over the middle.

The Panthers know what they have (and don't have) with Ted Ginn. Cam's best attribute as the leader of this offense that has allowed it to improve all year is the ability to always trust his guys, no matter the circumstances.

Good point.  We are 24-4 in the regular season with Tedd Ginn.

    • What are the matchups, stats and superlatives?   I think this will be a hard game. Bucs are a very balanced team on offense:  7th  in total yards per game, 7th in passing, 10th in rushing. Baker is having another career year even better than last year but despite missing his Godwin and Evans. Bucs defense is poor (29th) particularly passing defense, but we’re also depleted in our receiving with Coker and Sanders likely out. Running Chuba is key but their defense is better against the run. (16th) I think this is likely going to require us to score a lot of points to keep up and hopefully the home field advantage tips the scale in our favor. My other concern is our run defense and being able to stop their rookie study Bucky Irving who the Bucs have shifted more carries to recently and he’s averaging 5.4 ypc and knows how to get into the endzone with 5 TDs so far.
    • This is nonsense and you know it. People will be happy when we are consistently and convincingly winning games against good teams. There are people in here talking down to others after losses and barely beating the terrible NY Giants. If you want to strut around here like only you are a real Panthers fan and rage pooing posts because your jimmies are rustled then hey good luck with all that. I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving.
    • Who had the massive meltdown last year? Hope they feel better this year.
