Let's show Kurt Coleman some love here

he's prone to mistakes like anyway, but my god has he been a difference-maker. i remember going into this season thinking safety was going to be one of our biggest concerns... nope.

He is another guy who fits in here well but might not be the force he is here if he were elsewhere. Seems a lot of our guys like Ginn are better here than they were elsewhere. I think that is true of Coleman as well.

Coleman has been very good. very opportunistic defender. brings the fire like mitchell, minus all the boneheaded penalties mitchell used to have. mistake in communication between him and Bene (?) led to busted coverage and a TD. nothing major, just something to see and correct in the filmroom.

Dude has been really terrific! Props to Nippleshorts et. al. for signing this guy. Another great pickup for relative pennies.

Coleman has made some mistakes but who hasn't? Safety has to be one of the tougher defensive positions. I never played the it but it seems that even tiny mistakes often wind up in TDs making you look terrible.

I posted in another thread about, Ginn, Coleman and Oher.  These players thrive in our system.  They in themselves are not superstars.  But they fit what we do.  It isn't an insult to their abilities but more of a compliment to Dave Gettleman for finding these players that fit.  Mike Mitchell is the same.  While he is doing well in Pittsburgh, DG found him and make him rich because he fit.

Harper also alluded to this same point in his article last week.  We have players that fit what we do.  You cannot overlook it. 

Whether Coleman or these other players realize it, is really up to them.  The main thing is they fit our scheme.  Coleman is going to be a pro bowler this year.  But it is because he is in McDermott's defense not because he is a stud.

Signed through next year again which is massive, good to know they learned from getting burnt in 2013. Coleman is still only fairly young too so it's not like we're getting a one and done season from him
