Official Panthers - Saints Gameday Thread

I am coming to you live form New Orleans, where I am shaking a hangover and heading out to provide for you the content you have all learned to mildly enjoy.

Today with a win the Panthers can clinch the NFC South. Actually, they can clinch the south with an Atlanta loss before the Panthers even take the field.

Keys to Panthers Victory

- Start fast. This New Orleans dome can get very loud and disruptive. A fast start on offense will take them out of the game for the most part.

- Ted Ginn, Devin Funchess, and Philly Brown are starting to look like a legitimate NFL receivers squad. They must continue to improve and take away the cover 0 the opposition has loved to play against the Panthers. There will be plenty of 1 on 1 matchups that can be won against a very weak Saints defensive roster.

- Hit Brees early and often. A few pressures early will work wonders against the passing attack of the Saints. JJ Watt recently said the Saints needed a new right tackle. That line can be exploited.

Some stats via BBR:

Over their past 4 games, the Saints have allowed an average of 38.5 points and 442.8 yards while allowing 16 passing TDs with 1 INT.

Oh, and 143.75 rushing yards per game.

The Saints have allowed 21 or more points in all 11 games. The Panthers have scored 20 or more points in all 11 games.

Here’s one to remember as you watch Cam Newton today: The Panthers have scored 332 points this year. In 2010 they scored 196.

I think this game will be to harder than expected. The Aints are our rival and they are coming for blood.

The Panthers are 11-0 for a reason no matter what anyone says! They work hard, and play as a team!!!

I didn't realize Cam was this close to Peyton's 1st 5 seasons yards record.  Let's hope he has a HUGE game today to get him really well within reach!

1,284. Avg of 257/game would get him there RT @Michael_AskewJr: @BlackBlueReview how many yards is Cam from Peyton's first 5 seasons total?

I'm trying to find the tweet for when Cam moved into #2, but here are the totals as they stood after week 10.

Most combined yds rush & pass, 1st 5 seasons:

1. P.Manning - 21,174

2. M.Ryan - 19,457

3. D.Marino - 19,428

4. C.Newton - 19,400

According to Panthers.com, as of today, here are Cam's yardage totals:

16,892 passing 2,998 rushing 19,890 total

    • It's not good to leave any netminder having a bad night out there, not fair to them, not fair to the skaters still trying to win the game It's classless and shows a lack of respect, for them has a player and a human being, you aren't gaining anything, you aren't learning anything , except they just don't have it that night. I don't care if it's a multiple Vezina Winner, or a 3rd string back up, don't leave them out there to shame themselves and the rest of the team  What if Lavi left Cam in when he didn't have it, and Rod had to skate knowing he essentially has an open net at his end of the ice, would he enjoy that ?
    • If they draft Stewart at 8th, I will ask @Mr. Scot for a list of GMs and might as well ask for HC too.....
    • I can't for the life of me figure out what people are seeing in Stewart on tape. If he can't just simply run around or through the OL in front of him, he's cooked. I don't see any actual moves. If he doesn't win on sheet athleticism at the point of contact he's nullified. I don't know if I've ever seen him actually beat a block once engaged. Then, even if he just blasts right past or through the OL and has a clean path to the ball it's like he's blind. He can't find the ball. He's like a bottle rocket. Yeah, he takes off fast but he's just going to go fast in a general direction. There will be no course correction. I watched quite a bit on him just because of his perceived draft evaluation and because of the wild discrepancy between measurables and production. Watch him play and it all makes since. He's a god tier physical specimen who just happens to be playing football. I don't see a football player. People need to stop falling in love with the potential and start realizing why the potential isn't translating.
