The Bears trade for Cutler.

Cutler didn't respond well in a pressure situation yesterday. That's a worry, especially with the Steelers coming in.

Since his week 1 meltdown... In the fourth period of his last two games, Cutler has completed 14 of 15 passes for 152 yards with 2 touchdowns, no interceptions and a sparkling 148.4 passer rating. In both cases, he led the Bears to come-from-behind wins.

I might be wrong about this, but I want to say that the Bears emerging blazer Johnny Knox was the 5th round selection given up in the Cutler trade as well.

That deal is looking really damn fine now.

Still way too early to be tooting one way or the other, but looking good so far.

A franchise QB and a guy with 4.3 speed that can catch.

Nice.

he seems to be pretty good when the score is close, something nobody really gives him credit for.

At first it looked as the entire Denver organization was blowing up...

However, they are 3-0, have nice extra draft picks, no interceptions, a great o-line and a solid running duo.

The Bears are 2-1, Cutler is starting to fit in well, are slowly getting better WRs, Forte, and still have a decent defense.

Looking back at this trade, I really don't think either team really lost much. The gains are yet to be seen at their fullest potential because it is still very early in the year, but this may in the end be a win-win trade.

Cutler just posted the highest passer rating and completion precentage ever allowed in Qwest Field since it's inception yesterday, I think we did alright in the trade. That game was awesome and so loud until the stop on 4th and 2, then you could hear a pin drop! Best game I've seen in Seattle yet and my Bears won, I'm stoked right now!

Talked about it elsewhere, and give credit to Lovie Smith and Ron Turner.

Last week, they concentrated primarily on short, safe passes and allowed their speedy receivers to pile up RAC yards (essentially the West Coast approach) rather than trying to use Cutler like the gunslinger Denver always wanted him to be.

It was a smart approach to use against the Steeler defense, and equally smart as a way to get Cutler past his week one issues. Didn't see the game yesterday, but heard Trent Dilfer talking about it today. His take was the same as mine the week before, so I'll assume they stuck with close to the same approach against Seattle.

My guess: They'll stay with that approach short term, gradually mixing in more downfield passes as time goes on till they're satisfied he's a complete quarterback.

Will it work? Jury's still out there. Cutler's still not the most mature guy to hear talk and there's still a boatload of things that could go wrong, especially with key players on Chicago's defense hurting.

For now though, I gotta give the coaches plenty of credit. They're handling him properly.
