The Official Poll - Should Jake Start Against Atlanta...

Happy Panther nailed it. What will and should happen is that Fox will give Jake until the bye to fix things. If he has another couple of horrendous games, his career here will be done and Fox will make the switch to Moore when the Panthers come back home after the bye. You do NOT want to put Jake out in front of the fans if we're 0-3 with him continuing to look like the worst quarterback in the league.

I voted yes Jake should start.

I think that we need to have a little perspective here and see what happens against Atlanta before we even consider Moore (I think McCown is bad and shouldn't even be an option to start). Of course yesterday I was ready to kill #17 and our OC but we will see what happens against ATL when they bring the blitz game. Hopefully we can adjust and play smart football. That's all we lacked yesterday imo. We just didn't play smart and it lead to #17 looking VERY bad.

Delhomme deserves to sit. He doesnt take care of the ball, and has lost whatever it was he had. He didnt look good last year, and looked worse yesterday. Its time to move on and cut our losses.

The problem is I dont see who is better on out roster and we dont have a 1st round pick this year. Gonna be a long couple of seasons.

This is painful to say, b/c I like Jake and admire the way he handles himself.

No, I don't think he should start anymore. In fact, I want him off the roster. Tom Jackson said something profound today (on ESPN, go figure). One bad game is an accident. Two in a row is a trend. Three in a row is a problem.

We are at the trend stage. and I'm fearful where it is headed.

yes, but only because i want to see how he and the coaches and players respond to this.

it's still early enough in the season that they can afford to lose a couple early games and still fix things and come out with a winning season.

right now i'm in a wait and see mode. my cautious optimism is waning. i think the team can some out with a winning record but they have to fix things to make it happen. it's too early to see if they can or can't fix things.

if they can't fix things by the bye it might be time to change directions. i just hope that this benching has the same effect that mcnabb's did last year.

it's good that they have two away games. if jake can pull it out on the road against two of the most hated teams there are around here, he might have a home crowd cheering for him. if not then it's david carr against the saints all over again.

IMHO, Jake will be given the chance against Atlanta to just be average (2 TDs, 1 Int). Anything more than average will be considered gravy. However, if he has the same type of performance as this weeks it will show that he has mentally lost it and once that happens you just can't come back from it, he will then be benched for good. It doesn't help that he had little help from the play calling against a blitzing team.

The coaching staff needs to gameplan a lot of multiple check down options (more than just a RB screen). I am not sure if it was Jake's lack of reading the defense (kinda hard to believe when you have nine d-players rushing at the line with only 6 blockers) or if there just wasn't any checks that would work (meaning Davidson needs a lot of blame).

And to my final point. The Oline was not as bad as you think. I rewatched the game just focusing on the line and the only times they were blown up was when Philly sent everything but the sink. It is hard to block 3 extra players. I counted 6 times were the literally ran an all out blitz with 9 players. Everytime this happened, the only check was the screen which took to long to setup. Why not just release the TE for a 5 yard pass that would have turned into 15+. If the rusher goes with the TE then you just role out that way and allow the screen to happen. The TE hardly ever released. There are ways to thoroughly expose a blitzing team and we didn't b/c we didn't gameplan for it which is definately on the coaches much more than the Oline.

that seems like a pretty good plan, i voted yes to him starting next week but if he looks like this again we got to pull him. I was happy to see fox actually pull him.

Absolutely not. It's completely idiotic to think otherwise. Even the well spoken, completely patient, and absolutely reasonable Mr. Scot has voted against it.

Why? It's impossible for Jake to give us the best chance to win and at the same time give us the best chance to lose (see Arizona and Philly if you're curious ;) )

McCown and Moore are terrible too, but I feel that any QB.. be it pro, college, hs, could shake off an INT better than Jake at this point.

Jake's not mad anymore. He's not firey anymore. He's not going nuts when he makes a bad play, trying to get a penalty. He's just moping around, feeling sorry for himself. That's not a good leader, and he's obviously done.

Unfortunately for every sane Panther fan left, John Fox will likely start Delhomme every game into oblivion.

he should start this week, but if he sucks it up like the last 2 games jake will be done here.....11 turnovers in 2 games, and philly scored 27 points off turnovers.you will never win like that.im really upset with jake but the coaches didnt help either.once again we were out coached and its offical as a ref with a whislte, john fox is now on the hot seat!!!!!!!!!!!!
