Lack of respect for the Panthers is because...

One player : Cameron Newton

It's simple guys...they don't trust Cam. But for some reason they trust Carson Palmer, someone that has never won a playoff game or maybe because he is a pocket passer.

Until  you guys realize the reason for the hate, you are wasting your time posting articles and what some analyst have to say.

Jesus....we are 11-0 and are making a magical run.  And threads like this continue to pop up and are a complete embarrassment to this site and Panther Nation.

Stop with the self pity guys and obsessing over whether the media and experts are giving us the respect that you think we deserve.

this is embarrassing.

There have been numerous threads about this the last couple years. I have a multitude of theories.

1- Everyone in the media knows that Roger Goodell bangs Jerry Richardson's wife and make him watch in the corner

2- There is a secret vendetta amongst analysts and media people for no reason known to us fans

3- it's bad when casual fans realize that there is an obvious bias

4-  revert back to #1 because something is up. They have disrespected the Panthers long before Cam came aboard.

Its obvious that they know something very Embarassing that goes on behind the scenes or something. Just doesn't make any sense.

oh, oh, oh I got it!

5- Jerry Richardson banged Walt Disney's wife and made him watch in the corner. Now Walt ordered to never show any signs of respect to Carolina by ESPN ever.

The End

Just sit back and laugh at their dumb asses week after week as they prove the same simple truth....that these so-called experts are nothing more than washed up jocks who have nothing meaningful to offer the workforce as a marketable skill.  They prove that even though they played the game, they are no more an expert than Dat Alice was.

lol....little harsh but true...you see Warren Sapp lately?

I do enjoy Trent Dilfer and few of the other guys though

Trent Dilfer is a washed up below avg QB still trying to make a living off his 15 minutes of fame.  He is the worst of the bunch....at least some of the others actually performed in the NFL at a high level.  Dilfer's claim to fame is not screwing up in the SB.

We are a small market team that is like a gnat swarming around your head on a hot summer day.   You don't really notice it at first, then you try to swat at it unconsciously.  Then it gets your undivided attention and killing it becomes your #1 objective.  When you can't, you realize that was a formidable gnat.  It is only after the fact that you realize that gnat beat you.  It ruined your picnic and made you hate being in the heat.  You go inside, where there is no heat and definitely no gnats.  And the next time you go outside in the heat, you hope the gnat doesn't find you.  You are now afraid of that gnat.
That is how a small market team earns respect in the NFL.

Somewhat wrong. It's because EVERY MEDIA OUTLET had us going 6-10 or below and had either the Falcons or Saints (some said even the Bucs) winning the South. Now they are embarrassed about their dumbass picks and trying to save face and discredit us. But yeah, the people still basing their judgement of Cam from his college days are the ones not giving us respect.

This!

It's because the Panthers won the division last year with a losing record and all the media made fun of them (conveniently forgetting all the injuries, the Gettleman Gut Job, and the fact the team was 12-4 the year before). So this year, when Kelvin got hurt, they thought is Was A Collective Wrap (as I'm sure many of us did, if we're honest), and now seemingly can't let it go!

The Cam-Pocket Passer argument by the OP's kinda dumb (with all due respect). Cause, Russell Wilson's far less a pocket passer than Cam and the media Loved The Hawks and him. Now, if you wanna talk about folks who hated Cam and never let it go (as you mentioned Castavar), that's another story, and true. LOL. Cam's a pocket passer, as we know, BTW. He just has a great ability to run when needed.True football analyst know this. It's not hard to see.

Saying all that (to Mad Hatters Post). Yes, the "Woe Is Me" can get a bit tedious from an 11-0 (and seemingly streaking) team! LOL

Onward to New Orleans! There's still a season to be played.

I think many 'experts' and NFL insiders, and many fans for that matter, are not comfortable seeing Cam Newton win a big playoff game until he does it...and I'm not talking about wild card round...

fact- Cam Newton is 0-2 in divisional playoff

fact- Cam Newton has never played in a conference championship game

let me make this clear- I have seen Cam make positive strides each and every year of his career...and he has matured to the point that he has complete mastery of the offense and the game...

my confidence in him is sky high right now and all those barriers are about to be shattered this year...however until he does....

I completely agree with you. First and foremost, we have to continue to win. By that , I mean continue to have winning seasons. We have to win playoff games and hopefully a Super Bowl. If you want to silence your haters, remove what they have to talk about, yeah some of them will probably find something else but it mean less to you because of your accomplishments. Keep Pounding...

You do know that Vegas sets the lines to get the money even right?

And honestly, who the hell cares what these clowns say?

The 'lack' of respect was summed up by Cowherd yesterday, and it makes sense.

The Panthers historically have been an average team.  We have yet to put back to back seasons together.  Sure we made the playoffs two years in a row, but with a losing record.  The Patriots get the respect they deserve for being the best team over the past 15 years.

If the Panthers are trending up, the respect will come.  We're just unproved to be consistently great.  The writers and 'experts' are just waiting for a breakdown on our teams part

The Panthers were not under dogs.  Almost every single media outlet picked them to win over the Cowboys.  Betting lines have nothing to do with the media.  And when the game started, the Panthers were the favorite even in the betting line.

This whining over a lack of respect is nauseating.  I see an obscene amount of praise coming the Panthers way right now.
