My two cents: Jake will and should still be our man.

The performance by the offensive line, while bad, doesn't even rank as one of the 5,000 worst offensive line performances in NFL history. Yet Jake's 11 turnovers over the past two games DOES rank as one of THE worst quarterback performances in the history of the league.

This has been said 10,000 times yet it is still not sticking with the Jake Delhomme apologists.

Apologists: Bad offensive line play exists everywhere, at every level of football. 2 game, 11 turnover streaks DO NOT. So why is it that Jake can just chuck the ball up when these other QB's will throw the ball away or TAKE THE F*CKING SACK.

If our OL could have given Jake, or whoever, at least a couple of seconds to even step back then maybe it would have been better. But OMG! the OL is the biggest reason we got stomped. No QB can play well under that situation, much less an average one.

Again with this. On the deep in by Moose ( COMPLETED ), Jake held the ball for SIX seconds. How many QBs have SIX seconds to complete a pass?

I have a similar sentiment. I feel that the OL did about as well as could be expected when facing a blitz scheme like Philly's. The problem is the playcalling not the OL and not entirely #17 (though he pretty much blew it yesterday).

I don't see how you can say the turnovers were not Jake's fault. I was sitting 5 rows up in the endzone and saw perfectly clear that most, if not all the turnovers were Jake's fault. When he fumbled the ball, I could see that blitz coming clear as day. If Jake couldn't see that, he either needs to start wearing glasses or realize that he just isn't half the man he use to be. I could see it clearly and I don't get paid millions of dollars to read blitz packages or coverage.

I have always supported JD but I am firm believer he has really lost it. Sitting in 529(endzone) you could see the play develop pretty good and Jake missed many open receivers as in he never even looked there way. Also, If we know the eagles are going to blitz, wouldn't it be safe to say that a quick little screen or short dump pass to one our ELITE RB's would keep there defense a little more honest. Jake was rattled as was the coaching staff. They did not have an answer for the eagles. Well Atleast the Panthers Pulled JD this time. A little too late though

This is really a stupid argument. Jake has been struggling since the second half of last season. The rest of the team had to save him during the second half! The Arizona playoff game and this last game with Philly, is just the upper echelon of how crappy Jake can be!

Plus this year with injuries to the defense, we aren't going to stop the run that well and can't afford to play conservative and control the clock --- because we won't. Jake needs to be able to make plays and keep the chain moving. He doesn't have the talent or capability to do that. If you don't see it, you will in time. Losing Maake Kemoeatu is a major blow, even to our offense.

Also there is absolutely no shame in having a quality backup behind somebody. It makes them better. Vick is going to make McNabb better, just like drafting Stewart made Williams a better running back for our team.

I have no problem letting Jake play next week -- this is his team and he's earned the starting job. BUT refusing to have a quality backup behind him, to let him know that there are consequences for his poor performances, is just insanely stupid!!!

Love or hate Jake all you want... giving him a free ride like this is just dumb.

I don't blame the OLine for the majority of their performance yesterday.. I blame the coaches. How many times did they have to be all out blitzed before they brought in two TE sets to counteract it? Five guys can't physically block nine pass rushers. Jake did his part by not making accurate screens and dumpoffs, holding the ball too long, and not thinking about ball control.

There were hiccups by the OLine, including a few false starts back to back, but no way should they shoulder the responsibility for the Eagles getting into the backfield so much when the coaches refused to adjust their gameplan to counter the all-day blitzes.

It should also be noted that just because his arm is pain-free after the Tommy John surgery doesn't mean his arm is 100%. Very few QB's have had Tommy John surgery so there really is no precident for what happens next. It's possible that Jake's accuracy is not what it used to be after the surgery (and there's plenty of evidence for that).

Jake was always a risk taker but had relativley good accuracy, which seems to be gone. Risk taker + diminished accuracy = lots of interceptions. When you watch some of these interceptions it's clear he can't put the ball where he wants to.

I'm not making excuses for Jake, it doesn't matter why he's thrown 9 interceptions in the last two games - he's a liability right now. The real questions are:

1. Are either Moore or McCown less of a liability than Jake?

2. Can Jake make adjustments to reduce the # of turnovers?

3. Can the coaching staff adjust the play calling to reduce the # of turnovers?

I agree, this coaching staff is too slow at making adjustments and that's 50% of winning in the NFL.
