Seattle is the 2nd best team in the NFC

Gentlemen, THE most important regular season game not involving the Panthers is going to happen this weekend:  Minny hosting Seattle.

Let's get a few things out of the way before I explain.  One, the NFC East "champion" is cannon fodder in the playoffs and no matter who finishes as the 5th seed Wild Card, are going to get creamed.

Two, we match up with Minnesota really, really well.  No defense is better suited to bottle up AD than us, and Teddy doesn't have the receivers or the ability to beat us.  We get them in the divisional, and we'll be huge, huge favorites to host the NFCCG.  Truth is, Minny is overrated as a team, benefiting from catching teams at the right time and a rather weak schedule.  They will not be winning the NFC North, not after tonight.  As a WC team, they are the most realistic dream matchup for us in the opening playoff game.

However, the ONLY team that Minny is capable of beating from the division winners is going to be the NFC East chumps, err, champs.  They are inferior to us, Arizona, and certainly Green Bay.  So the ONLY way we are going to see them in the divisional is if they finish with the 5th seed.

That seed will basically be decided this Sunday, when they host the Seattle Seahawks.  Seattle has a WEAK schedule going forward, playing some absolute dogs like a dumpster fire Browns team, the haggard and injury riddled Ravens, and a Rams team with a non-starting caliber QB and a coach on the verge of getting fired. Think of them as a nine win team, with road games at Minny and Arizona to determine where they finish.  Minny, on the other hand, needs all the help they can get.  After Sunday, they still have to play the packers, cardinals, which are both high probability losses, and definitely teams they can lose to in the Giants and Chicago.

That's why this matchup will basically decide everything.  If Minny can scrape a win at home -- and even at home they don't seem to be favored -- that puts them a 9 wins with only needing to beat one of the giants or bears to almost certainly secure that 5th seed, not to mention the tiebreaker over Seattle if they both finish with the same amount of wins, almost forcing Seattle to win out.  But if they lose, Seattle almost assuredly gets that 5th seed, because at that point Minny would need to win out to guarantee they finish a game ahead of Seattle.  And if Minny gets that 6th seed, go ahead and write them off right now because they are NOT beating the Packers in Green Bay in the WC round.

And on the other side?  Seattle goes in to whatever crap team won the NFC East and stomps them, setting up the 2nd best team in the NFC with a huge amount of momentum that we'd have to face in our FIRST GAME in the playoffs, not a scenario we want to be in compared to a much, much easier matchup with the Vikings.

That, ladies and Gentleman, is what is at stake this Sunday.

You do realize they are still not the second best team in the NFC no matter how many times you say it in a post.

If Minnesota is clearly  inferior to us, Arizona, and green Bay, but you think they can beat Seattle...  How does that make Seattle the second best team in the NFC? Seems to me that would put them at fourth or fifth.

Don't give me the "they're at home"  excuse either

2014 2nd Round pick Paul Richardson is likely to go to IR, and he was basically a first round pick having traded theirs to Minny for Teddy B.  Dude is made of glass and yet another top pick bust.  Since 2012, it's simply one whiff after another, after another, after another from their brain trust.  Even 2012 first rounder Irvin is gone after this year, as is 2010 first rounder Okung.  We've actually gained separation from them SINCE OCTOBER with huge, overpaid offseason additions Cary Williams and Jimmy playing like poop or out for the year.  The gap will be further widened by January, and it's all over but the cryin going forward after that.

If Home field was just an excuse then vegas wouldn't swing the line 3 points for the team getting it.

Minny is such a fraud that they aren't even favorites against Seattle in their own house.

Doesn't mean they can't win, and the Huddle should be hoping they pull off the upset

I'm pulling for Minny based on principle alone, Panther fans should not cheer for Seattle period!!!!  And certainly I'd rather face a bum like Teddy B than Wilson, and a forever choke artist franchise like the Vikings than a recent champ, but does anyone really think he (Wilson) comes into BOA in a playoff atmosphere and goes 8/8 on 3rd down again against this D without Unger, with a healthy Star, 2015 editions of KK, Luke, and JNo, the Green Lantern, Peanut, Shaq, Finnegan, as well as Allen and Big Money neither of whom played in October, while Graham did?  Truth be told, the aforementioned playoff game and win against a gutless Mike Tomlin lead Steelers are the ONLY good games Russ has had this calendar year of any note whatsoever!!!!!!

Smashing their face in the dirt may be far more satisfying.  Let's let it play out.
