It says the police are trained that way not the security. The intended point (I believe) was that the police don't approach things the way the security guard did.

What the heck did you do to this thread?

He posted a quote from the Observer article, but anytime you copy anything from an article over there, it includes a terribly annoying link that does not transfer over to the message board properly. He'll have to edit that out of his post for it to be corrected. Otherwise you'll have to wait until page 9.

They probably don't get paid crap for the job, maybe the security person decided choking a Panthers fan to take out their frustration about the game was worth losing their job over.

When I did security part time in college I do recall a lot of the guys who did it for a living took great pride and joy in manhandling people.

Worst was the outdoor concerts in Charlotte with crowd surfers coming over the rail at the stage.  It was pretty easy, get them down and escort them back out.  Then there were some who enjoyed manhandling anyone they could grab so they could tell their buddy about how they got someone good.

it has been almost 15 years so maybe they actually train people now but back then we had zero.   "Security" ain't security.   You need a cop.

Carotid Restraint, vascular neck restraint or whatever you wanna call it is not deadly force. That's hilarious if you seriously believe that.

Stabbing him in the throat with a Ka-Bar would've been deadly force.

Restraining him was a nonlethal method of making him comply.

Well, if a 3rd rate website trying to generate web traffic said so it must be true. After all, everything on the internet is factual! Right?

http://247sports.com/Bolt/WATCH-Cam-Newton-dabs-in-the-stands-after-a-LeBron-James-dunk-41447776

Kinda like this article stating "Cam Newton dabs in the stands after a LeBron James dunk." The video is edited to show the dunk then Cam dancing while the audio never switches from the LeBron dunk, making it look like Cam is celebrating the dunk by LeBron. But in reality that clip of Cam occurred 5 minutes later during a timeout when they were playing music and showing him on the big screen. But if they say so it must be true!

No. you don't continue to fugging choke the guy when he is willing to comply. I don't know what the hell you call "Restraining" But you need to revisit your definitions of "Restraint". Because that sure as hell isn't restraint to me, looks like he's about to put that guys fugging lights out.

Unfortunately, security guards and bouncers most of the time love to fight and control people and this is why things like this happen so often.  Stadiums and Bars should be required to hire security with some background in law enforcement and also do background checks for violence. I would bet the farm that guy has assault on his record.
