You Stay Classy Philly

Anyone else feel Andy Reid acted and coached with total disregard for sportsmanship and class today? I'm all for a team putting your foot on someone's throat when you're up and crushing them, but he went way overboard. I felt like he had a personal dislike for us. I don't know if it's that he's still bitter about '03 or what. But I was pissed.

WTF was up with going for 2 different 4th downs in the 4th quarter when they were already up 28 points? WTF was up with bringing back in the first unit on their defense to stop us from scoring a sympathy TD? That was a total lack of class, and I don't ever remember seeing a team do sh*t like that other than Belichick and the Pats (which usually happens at least once a year). I usually pull for McNabb too as long as it's not detrimental to us, but I honestly feel he deserved the broken rib. That sh*t was ridiculous.

After the way they acted, I don't know how Fox even shook his hand. But, then again, I don't know why Fox has done a lot of things that he's done. Anyone else noticed this?

I totally disagree, the eagles played with total class and respect. It's the offense's job to score points and the defenses job to keep us from scoring points. I think your just upset that we got destroyed.

He did us a favor, instead of punting and pinning us deep in our own territory just so we could turn it over or even have some kind of return to give them another defensive score, they went for it and if we stopped them we would be in a better position.

waaaah waaaaaah they shouldve taken it easy on us.

man the f**k up and blame your defense for not stopping them. i have no problem with coaches keeping the pedal to the floor all 60 mins of a football game. no matter the score.

Agree.

Wish the Panthers could continuously have the dominate defense that the Eagles have had.

Doesn't look good for us.

Yeah,I'm disgusted,so disgusted that I wish Fox would coach like this when the Panthers are winning!;)

Wow, Really? We got our asses handed to us because of bad QB play, bad playcalling, no adjustments. And you want to blame Reid and the Eagles? As was stated already, I wish Fox had the guts to whip somebody's ass like that!
No,Fox would sit on a 3 point lead and try to run out the clock when it's still only the 2nd quarter!

The suggested reason for all the throws and attempts on fourth down, was simply to get Kolb some reps. With McNabb injured, he may well be playing significant time next week. Gotta give the guy a chance to relax.

The defensive thing was pretty simple, it would have given us a bit of a lift and then a bit of a sour taste that they let us in. As conference rivals (in name only it appears) they want us to feel as dedjected as possible. Considering it was the DCs first proper game, he wanted it to be in style.

When the game was out of reach, I thought the Panthers coaching staff would have started blitzing like crazy, and just let the chips fall where they may. Wanna' chuck it deep? Make us look like clowns? Fine. Davis and Beason are coming. Keep throwing. It seems like our coaching staff just doesn't have a killer instinct when it comes to play calling.

If any of our players or coaches complain about the Eagels running up the score, then I'm not watching another game this season. Crying for mercy in football is just disgusting.

The only catch phrase I like from Fox is this one: "No one is coming to rescue us." We have the players we have, so we need to think in terms of this season, right now. What can we do? There is no magic FA QB coming to replace Jake.

The season isn't over, but our offensive line needs to focus on pass blocking. Not a shocking revalation I know, but the o-line made Jake look worse than he actually is. I'm usually the last person to stad up for Jake, but he isn't as bad as he looked against the Eagles. Peyton Manning looks horrible too when facing major protection problems. The difference is that Manning would be on ESPN right now, calling out the o-line.

I expect Jake to start for the rest of the season. I'm certain Jake will be pressured in the ATL game. One thing that has to stop, the one handed sac fumble. No more. Fire the QB coach if that happens again. A QB like Vick can scramble with one hand on the ball, he has the pocket awareness, and the speed to get away with that. Jake deosn't. Jake must be taught to keep both hands tight on the ball, then throw. Nothing else. You move, you hold the ball like it's your fuking $$$$$$40million PAYCHECK! NO CHEESEDICK PUMP FAKES! GOOD QBS GET TO PUMP FAKE! Sorry rage got me. Jake must be taught, all over again, every practise, not to stare at the reciever you're gonna throw to. DBs are watching Jake like Jangler watches 'Bring it On: All or Nothing', very closely. That can work to our advantage. Train that goober to stare at the reciever he is NOT going to throw to, then boom, hit the open guy. Jake must make a mental image of the play developing, then use his direct vision at the last second to throw.

Do I want Jake as our QB next season? No. Let Pepp walk, go buy the best QB we can afford, and pick up a good pass rushing DT as well.

Our offensive is built to run the ball, but there is a price to pay in bringing in so many road graters. That is, you sacrifice pass blocking to a certain extent. For years I wanted bigger offensive lineman, but I knew that pass blocking would drop off when we got them. That's exactly what has happened. By having a bigger offensive line, we have put more pressure on Jake to make quick decisions, and have pocket awareness. Actually, If not for his personal problems, I would have wanted Michael Vick as QB over Jake. Vick is actually an ideal QB for the type of offensive line we now have. The pass rush is always going to be a problem for a massive o-line, but with Vick, you neutralize some of the pass rush. Then you have a dominant run game, and a QB who teams don't want to blitz.

I'm expection to see us in max protect on passing downs against ATL. I won't hold my breath though, since Fox almost seems almost braindead at this point. Jake in the shotgun might also help. Give Jake the most simple pass plays in the playbook. Here's hoping the old Jake makes a return against ATL.

Good point, I didn't think of it that way. Sorry guys, I've had a day to let the embarrassment wear off.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
