The REAL reason why the Skins lost today

Yea, the back angle replay they showed as they were discussing it on air after the play shows the best angle of the forearm/elbow to the throat.  The helmet to helmet wasn't vicious, but it was the first contact made between them and the guy leaped up (as someone earlier in the thread described it, launched) making it look like he was actually AIMING at the head.  A proper, legal tackle would have been going lower, wrapping up at the waist.  Not intentionally going high.

I just don't remember anything up high. I thought the guy had his should hit like Olsen's chest and knocked the ball out with 1 arm so I'll just have to see it again. Maybe I'm getting old...

You guys may not be aware of this..... but the real reason the Panthers squeaked by with a 28 or 30 point win (if you were still counting 3 minutes into 3rd quarter... is that the NFL "wanted" the Panthers to win to set up the Thanksgiving Day battle with the 3-7 cowboys..... <insert aluminum foil tin hat gif>

if i recall correctly, the guy didn't even hit the ball out.  Olsen's arm's just kinda fell away from the ball.  watch the ball after Olsen loses possession, it just hands there in the air as if Olsen's hands just disappeared.  If the guy knocked it away, or anything "normal" had caused him to lose possession the ball would have changed trajectory, or moved quickly in some fashion.

We had my family's Thanksgiving get together today at my brothers house, and my nephew, who is a college ref, said that is a penalty at every level of football.  Of nothing else, he said, the fact he launched at Olsen was enough to throw the flag.

If you noticed, the flag was thrown before the Washington player ever had possession of the ball.  It was a going to be a penalty regardless of a turnover or not.

The rule is right and a good rule, but the call was not. Olsen put his head down right when he got hit. Shouldn't have been called.

Olsen was covering up, which is a good idea when you are being headhunted. Player came in high. The ref made the right call. Was it close? Yes. But was it correct? Also, yes.
