DeAngelo Williams

people keep bashing me for saying it, but the williams of last year was the product of a good healthy o-line against suspect rush defenses.

Unbelievable!!! You guys are absolutely unbelievable. I pray that this is his last year in Carolina. There will always be a fraction of the Panther fanbase that will never give him the respect he deserves... Unbelievable.

That's BS. No running back has success without decent blocking. You don't get 1500+ yards and lead the league in TDs without having serious talent.

I don't know why so many Panther fans love to put down our own players. Williams is a great back. You forget that his numbers were already pretty good in his first two years, it's just that he had way fewer opportunities to run in those years. He had 5.0 yards per carry in 2007. Don't try and tell me we had a great O-line that season.

that is the biggest crock of bullshit i've heard today,,,williams elusiveness is that of a Superior level, our o ine is good but most of williams runs were him making lemon aid out of lemons.Go back and see how many tackles d will broke last year....just because the poo has hit the fan doesn't mean some of our great players threw it up there. That's three players that have been bashed to date peppers, smith, and d will

I thought both RBs looked good. I had no problem with Stewart getting the carries....he looked good. Should have ran more early....this team is build to pound and punt if it is needed......Fox just doesn't have a clue at this point. To repeat the AZ game almost step for step imo should have resulted in Fox's immediately firing. I mean it was a mirror image...the following game.

Williams needs to work on his blocking. If my memory serves me correctly, wasn't Williams the one who missed a block on whoever the Eagle was (I think it was the MLB) that came in and sacked Jake and caused that fumble that was returned for a TD? Whoever missed that block, it was horrible, even I could read that was a blitz coming up the middle, but Williams was looking to his left and when he looked right, the defender had already passed him by.

Yeah, Williams did miss that one pretty badly. I will say that I saw him make some nice blocks, too.

Williams was horrible today. I was just posting this in another thread. He looked like a rookie out there today picking up blocks. One of the main reasons that Williams didn't start when Foster was here was because of this very thing. I think that is the reason Fox "pulled" Williams if you want to look at it that way.

He is no doubt one of the best runners in the NFL but if he can't do any better than what he did today in pass protection he won't be a starter in the NFL for long. Hate to say it but its the truth.

Seriously! what game were you watching? He missed one block and that was because the eagles were coming from so many directions at once it was a lost cause not to mention the guy was in Jakes face before the panthers got out of there full stance.

Nice to not give Williams the credit he deserve. Williams play better than you think, but then your screen name clearly show you're not fan of him anyway.

And the reason they bashed you is because you don't really get it when it come to Williams. The Williams of last year was good because he is fast, a good O-Line open hole for him, he did took on few good defense, etc. You just don't want to give credit where credit is due.

Why is it that they seem to take him out of the game for stretches at a time, right when he gets into a rhythm and seems to be doing well? At one point today, Stewart had more carries than him (and this was before the game got out of hand). I get that we have two good RBs but DeAngelo Williams is our most talented player after Steve Smith, and as such he needs to touch the ball as often as possible.

I thought that was Fox's idea of an adjustment. Replace a RB with a slightly slower and stronger back and do the same thing.

i've still got the game saved.

i scanned thru some of the first half...

1. on a long bomb to moose (god only knows why because he was covered by 2 defenders), deangelo blocks otah...nope, that's not a typo he runs into the back of otah. and no, otah wasn't blocked into him. thank goodness delhomme got rid of the ball before the defender williams was supposed to block got to him...btw, the defender ran right by williams.

2. on the very next play that resulted in a facemask penalty on parker, williams gets trucked by quintin mikell. and when i say trucked, i mean mikell doesn't even acknowledge that williams is in front of him and runs him over...and mikell is 5'10" 206 lbs. so there is no significant size difference.

3. correct me if i'm wrong, but if the RB has no one to block on a pass play, isn't he supposed to either keep an eye out for a delayed blitz and/or stay open as a check down for the QB? williams did neither on delhomme's (2nd?) interception. i'm not saying williams was the reason for the interception. that was all on delhomme...but he left delhomme by himself and ran up to an o-line that had everyone covered to do...nothing?

i'm sure there's more...but i'm tired of looking at this game.

I for one feel fortunate as hell to have two backs the caliber of D Will and Stewart. Count me in the lot of having no problems with either of the guys. D Will might miss a block here and there, but to say he is a product of a good o-line and bad run defense is out of line.
