denver is awesome

Haha Brothers...that can sometimes be cool. It was actually the real world house when it was in Denver lol.

If you're downtown, my neighborhood suggestions: Herbs, Retro Room, Falling Rock, 1Up.  Oh and if you make it Shelby's tomorrow, I'll be the brown haired dude in a Kuechly jersey+blue jacket with a blonde chick in a Newton one.

Oooh what part of town?

i used to live at some apartments off of academy behind pulpit rock park 20 years ago. it was pretty damn depressing actually, back then it was just those apartments backed up to this massive empty lot. probably a hundred acres of just rocks and brush and red dirt and bugs, frogs, snakes, and other fun bullshit. i spent every waking moment as a 9-year-old traipsing every spare inch of that land, wandering the trails up behind it that dropped down into the canyons at pulpit rock, etc.

...and then some fuging developer bought it out, bulldozed it flat, and built a massive neighborhood on it. i was aghast. i walked through it in horror trying to find some surviving relic of my youth but it was all gone. some stupid dumbass rich person's 400k duplex is sitting on top of my old fort from 1994 and they don't even know it. fuging heartbreaking, man. that place was the place where the mythology of my youth - all my adventure books and heart-racing tales - came alive and molded me into the person i am today, with all the things i've ever loved, and now it's gone.

fug, man.

also i lived off of n. carefree in the late 90s, and then to woodland park at another point. i visited both... the latter was an extra trippy experience because i found the tiny old fundamentalist baptist church i went to as a kid. the front door was open and curiosity overwhelmed me, so i went inside. there was a jewelry party in the basement but no one was upstairs, so i went into the sanctuary. it was exactly the same. so freaking weird. i sat in a pew and looked around and remembered being nine and religious, and then someone came in. it turned out to be the associate pastor, who amazingly remembered me. we talked for about a half an hour. absolutely mind boggling in so many ways.

now today after the game i'm driving up to the top of pikes peak. i lived here for years and my lame-ass parents never took us up there. what bullshit.

I don't even have any Panthers gear here. I left it all back home in NC. Thought I was only going to be out west for a few weeks, turned into a 6 month stay lol. I'm identifiable as probably the only ginger, or at least one of few, with possibly crazy hair depending on how the air feels like treating it today. Some days are worse than others.

In my defense, I haven't worn a single piece of Panthers gear all season since June, neither has my father, and we haven't lost yet. Soooo....

    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
    • I didn't say I would have done it. I was just saying that I can see why some in the FO considered it. Everything was done to give Bryce weapons. Solidify the interior line thru FA. Get XL at WR in round 1 and then get the most talented RB in round 2. Take a TE in round 4, etc They were probably "assuming" he'd make a complete recovery during the 2024 season. I'm a skeptical person. I wouldn't have assumed he'd be ok in 2024. I personally would have taken another position in the 2nd for that very reason. But, if I were "influenced" to take him I would've argued to keep him off the field, especially seeing how things were going for us record wise. Conventional Wisdom says most backs don't get back to normal until two years after the ACL surgery. He was injured in Fall 2023. Having him suit up in 2025 would have been almost 2 years since the original injury. You have him for 3 year on low contract. If he balls out, you resign him for a couple of more years b/c he'd only have 3 years of tread on the tires. If he's ok but not great you let him walk.
