Screamin A. Smith thinks it's a Race issue with Cam dancing

I have done plenty of research.

Most of them do talk about other QBs.  They are overrated, or are not clutch, or they suck, carried by their surrounding players, etc.

Havent seen the "thug", "criminal" "ghetto"' "dangerous to my children  pelvic thrusting" type commentary on most of those other QBs.

The other day I was watching a "Football Life" about the Oilers back in the day.  Warren Moon's teammates even said that as a black QB he had to be perfect.  Not just on the field, but be humble, articulate, even have a perfect family life or else he wouldn't be acceptable.  The players themselves are aware of it.

Also, the "scary hyper sexual black man who isnt able to control his animalistic urges" has been a red herring since the beginning of this country.

Fun fact:  cocaine used to be used for medicinal purposes and legal in that capacity.  One of the reasons it was eventually outlawed was because urban legends of black men using the medicine and losing control of their sexual impulses and were raping white women.

Because of things like that the imagery of "pelvic thrusts" by a white woman with her daughter being used by a lady who is supposedly head of a PR firm leads me to believe she knew exactly what she was trying to portray by using that type of coded language.

Yeah, race may not be the motivating factor for all of the vitriol, but if you think it isnt a factor you are like this guy:

And if you assume automatically that it is, how are you any different from anyone else with a prejudice?

Could this lady be racist? Sure she could. But I'm gonna need better evidence than that she doesn't like the quarterback who beat her favorite team doing a touchdown dance. There are loads of fans who don't like that, including our own.

Tell me this, Tee. If someone on this forum criticizes Jameis Winston, are you going to automatically assume it's racial? Or might it have something to do with the fact that he plays for the Buccaneers?

Every one has some sort of racial prejudice.  Just the way it is.  The list of stereotypes for each different race is endless. We are all guilty.

That culture is changing tho despite what you read or see on the news.  Cam is helping to do that.  As a younger person i see it every day.  Cam has handled it all in stide and is setting a good example of what any young MAN should be.

We all have certain prejudices and biases based on our individual world experiences and societal pressures and norms.  That is why it is important for people to be aware of it both internally and externally in every day society.  Ignoring it does more damage than making people uncomfortable and defensive over highlighting their own biases.

But it doesn't take a large assumption when certain dog whistle rhetoric and sterotypes are used continuously and disproportionately toward a certain race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.

To answer your question about Winston.  It isn't about criticism.  If people say he sucks that is one thing.  It is double standards, dog whistles, and dangerous stereotypes that if someone was using as their justification for not liking Jameis Winston, I would call them out too.

BTW there is evidence that race is a factor, even if not a cognizant motivating factor of the person saying it.  You can only miss it if you choose to.

Sorry. I'm not a big believer in the whole "racist without knowing it" thing. To me that's just a way to keep playing the race card even when you don't have any evidence to support it.

My opinion on this lady remains that she's an idiot. Whether or not she's racist? Don't know.

Y'all think I am joking with this. Go back and look at the 49ers message board/local media, Washington message board/local media, Seattle message board/local media in the last 3 years.

Even at their heights, these fan bases contained a SIGNIFICANT amount of "fans" that absolutely HATED their young, black QB. I have maintained for years that Cutler, Stafford, and Bradford of the world are treated FAR more kindly when they are doing terribly by their fan bases, than when black QBs are actually leading their teams to playoffs with far less weapons to work with and coaches who don't even want them on their team.

The only white QB that comes close to being given the same treatment is Andy Dalton.

So I will ask the same question again. Why is it that on the Huddle we have more threads/posts criticizing a Newton TD pass than there are threads on Dolphins board when Tannehill has one of his 14/31 206 TD/3 ints games where his team losses badly to prevent them from going to the playoffs?

Why is it that between Cutler/Stafford/Bradford they have probably gotten 15 OCs fired but their fan bases are all to willing to give them another 100 million dollar contract?

People need to stop and open up their eyes and recognize that Newton for ALL that he has accomplished is about 2 bad games from a significant portion of the Huddle and local media for calling for Newton to be benched and traded.

And it has nothing to do with dancing.

Amen!

You realize that your "old white dude" comment is meant to be insulting and derogatory.....just like when some use the word thug.

Because they hold such the same weight.

You do realize what "thug" is meant when used by said old white guys right?

If you feel there is any semblance between the two as far as derogatory goes, then I really don't know what to tell ya.

Bomani is a great radio personality but he needs to stay away from social media. Check out his Twitter feed sometime, he makes himself look like an idiot on a near daily basis.

Oh gotcha...I don't do the social media thing. So I'm clueless to this. I just know of  his personal show and with Lebatard.

It was not Kasay. It was stupid John Fox going for all those 2 point conversations and failing late in the 3rd/early in the 4th quarter. If we would have just kicked extra points, Adam Vinateri would have been kicking the game tying kick, not the game winning one.

This^^^ Seattle made the same mistake against Arizona this week too.

Coaches outsmarting themselves, hitting the panic button, going for two points instead of an easy one, digging a deeper hole for the team to climb out of.

Well luckily, there have been numerous psychological, sociological, and cognitive studies that have proven it.  So you dont have to "believe it".  This isn't the X-Files.

Certainly we know race is a big factor for some people, do we know it is in this instance?

May or may not be.  I am old school and appreciated the "act like you've been there before" approach to scoring and first downs.  Took awhile for me to realize times change and to get with it.

I now look forward to players doing their thing after scoring or making a great play.

Just saying, this lady and many people like her may just be stuck in the past.  Either way, I doubt Cam is losing any sleep over her comments.
