what about Steve McNair? Donovan McNabb? Randal Cunningham?

All were great pocket passers with the ability to run as well, just like Cam. Now did those QB's dance after 1st downs and TD's? I'm not too sure. But from my understanding, they were never looked at a different way just b/c they were black.

You can't be serious. It was awful for them. And the crap Warren Moon went through...sheesh. His stories make you shake your head. I grew up watching McNabb in college and yes he was mostly the hero of the town but man "Black QB" sure was brought up an awful lot. And don't forget Vick. He got the Jimmy the Greek treatment too. It was awful for black QBs back in the day and it's only slightly better but it is getting better.

It's totally racism and it has been since he came into the league.  It's OK for black WRs and RBs to celebrate, because those positions are "supposed" to be filled with black people and that isn't as important as the "almighty" QB position.   White people are supposed to be QBs and lead the team and not black people, and if there is a black person doing this, they better act like Russell Wilson and RG3, and be articulate and all that "stuff".  That's the best way I can explain it.   Because Cam doesn't fit into their "white qb or acts enough white QB" status he'll always deal with this.

But when you have a black guy, with his own style, doing his own thing, even though others do it too, people just aren't ready for it I guess.

Wow! Reason and logic does still exist!

We literally have posters in this thread (and you see this ALL THE TIME) suggesting that "it can't be about race because a black LB does it and nobody said anything to them!"

It is like talking to a 3 year/wall when it come to discussing the uncomfortable truth of race and how it TRULY operates in our society especially when it come to football for some people.

ESPN doesn't spend 5000 hours straight talking about CBs, WRs, LBs, DEs, or TEs around draft time. They endlessly talk about the QBs. Why? Because the QB position, like no other position in American sports, occupy a position of prestige and control. The QB position is the position MOST closely a team even an entire city is identified with.

People really need to stop the nonsense of: "I can't be bias against Teddy Bridgewater because Adrian Peterson is my favorite player!"

Let's try not to be intellectually dishonest when discussing matters of race and sports.

Yeah but like I said, Mike Vick. Those were QB's before Mike Vick. That's 3 you can name. Who's been after Vick since he came in the league? There's been a few after Mike that didn't work out at all. But since 2011, you have Cam, RG3, Wilson, EJ Manuel who got replaced by Tyrod, Freeman then Winston, Kaep, Geno, Pryor. We're talking all starting Qb's.

I'm actually watching this video. I normally don't It's amazing how Stephen A can talk about White and Black people without actually saying White or Black people. This is such a nuanced way of talking. But doesn't it say something about ESPN and our society that we have people talking specifically yet vaguely about race issues to make a point without offending. He should just say whatever is on his mind in plain English and be judged on his words. Instead of this bizarre "I'm not saying, I'm just saying" nonsense.

All I'm going to say is a successful black QB will always ruffle some feathers. Especially when he is expressive.

Now is it because of race? Can't know for sure (as no one will say so out loud)  but It doesn't take a genius to read between the lines of some comments.

Uh. Might wanna research that.

Yes it's a race/cultural issue. To people that feel like it isn't...enjoy your privilege.

"why can't he win silently like (insert white people or black people that stayed in their place)?"

It's simpler to just claim that it "may be race related".

Claiming it IS race related is as bad as someone claiming it is 100% NOT race related.     It's impossible to know what is in the hearts and minds of every single person that says something negative about Cam.

Well, that's because it probably is for a lot of folks.

We all know what an old white dude means when he says "thug".

You realize that your "old white dude" comment is meant to be insulting and derogatory.....just like when some use the word thug.

This^^^^

There are absolutely people out there who hate Cam because of his race....just like there are people out there that like him because of his race.

I think some dislike him because of race....some dislike him because of age (many older people do not like the brash, in your face, personalities and attitudes of the younger generation)...I think some hate him because he is not on their team.

It is not a single or simple answer.

LOL ... how is it a race issue when 90% of the entire NFL is black? What about every black defensive player celebrating after a sack? What about every black WR celebrating after a TD?

Was it a race issue when Steve Smith would show up his opponents?

This is one of the most asinine arguments I've heard on this issue.

I will soften it for you and call it cultural elitism (courtesy of my better half).

it's race. I had my older female coworker tell me how "she just didn't like Cam" because of his celebrations in a general sense but could not offer any specifics when asked why, "just a feeling".

Here is the feeling: don't like uppity black guys acting un humble.

I admire humility and deflection of praise but the thing is, he does that when talking about the team or game accolades. He just has a great way to celebrate success.
