Hornets vs. Knicks

Frustrating game. Had a chance to steal it at the end, but the Knicks were the better team tonight.

Frank got big minutes and continued to show why he's not ready for big minutes.

Meh. That's about what every Knick-Hornet game is going to be this year.

Need to keep the good home mark going tomorrow against Brooklyn.

Remember when Porzingis was mocked to us for most of the spring and everyone on this forum said he was worse than Zeller?

Who said that? I don't remember that but if they did they should be ashamed of themselves lol

Porzingis was my favorite player in the draft behind Winslow and Russell.

Porzingis was ass the previous game. Just like Batum was in this one.

And the game before that, Batum was anointed with the MKG Memorial "Deserves A Max Contract" Overreaction Award

Point being, don't wet your pants over one game. Porzingis is great but he's also put in a position to succeed, a phrase the Hornets brass refuse to believe exists.

Meh, you can't throw a rookie out there for only one game after letting him sit on the bench for weeks, and expect him to look like a veteran. If we're going to make the commitment to get him minutes, it needs to be consistently. If you want the guy to improve, he needs consistent reps to get back into the groove.

Also, Batum 2/13 for 4 points?

Didn't he just drop 33 the other night? Yeah, it's probably time to pump the brakes on the single game reactions.

This inconsistency starts with the players obviously, but it's up to the head coach to get them prepared.

Frank has been getting consistent minutes this season. Hasn't done anything with them. Cliff is coaching for his job this year. He doesn't have time for Frank to get a ton of minutes and figure it out. Frank should get there this year, but considering the only major impact rookie this team has ever drafted is MKG, I'm skeptical, especially when he gets torched by the supposed project player.

As for Batum, he had an off night. It happens. Kemba had a great night. It happens. That's the NBA for you. I don't think anybody is overreacting. But I will say in order for this team to be successful on offense, they will need less shots from Kemba. His statline was great, but with only one assist, that tells me it came at the expense of everyone else.

This roster desperately needs to overhaul the frontcourt in the worst way. With MKG, Lance and Biz gone there is absolutely zero presence inside because the bigs are just not physical at all. Second chance points cost them the game more than anything else really. I'd like to see a deal at some point that addresses this issue because it's going to be the Achilles heel of this team even moreso than the guard play we are always quick to point the finger at.

Out of 11 games, he's played in 7 games where he had 10 or less minutes. Versus only 3 games where he played 20 or more minutes.

Not exactly the definition of consistent minutes there. But at the end of the day, yes he needs to improve, he's a rookie.

Anyways, you make solid points, and I agree that Cliff is, and should be coaching for his job this season.

    • https://collegefootballnetwork.com/college-football-playoff-predictor Fun little predictor. You can pick every game for the rest of the season. Right now my 12 are: 1. Ohio St. (bye) 2. Miami (bye) 3. Georgia (bye) 4. Arizona St. (bye) 5. Oregon VS 12. BYU 6. Boise St. VS 11. SMU 7. Notre Dame VS 10. Texas 8. Penn St. VS 9. Indiana   That gives me: Oregon/OSU for the third time this year (Oregon) Miami lucking out once again VS Indiana SMU playing cinderella VS ASU Texas/Georgia one more time (Texas)   That gives me: SMU/Miami again (Miami) Oregon/Texas (Oregon)   Oregon then trashes Miami in the finals.
