Yes, they work well together and yes he should be easy to replace. But no, he isn't better than Chud. I don't see how there's any evidence to support that premise. Our offense was downright prolific with Chud. With Shula, it has been anemic at best until this season when all the pieces fell in place.

Let me put it this way, Chud made chicken salad with chicken poo. Shula had to have the chicken salad ingredients lined out for him and then instructions clearly outlined before he could actually make the dish. And even with all that, he still calls the stupidest plays at times

Completely wrong but don't let me stop you.

I don't think it's because of Shula to be honest. I truly believe Mike is getting a lot of hype for finally going with Cam's strengths. ESPN, the other day, released an article detailing Cam's growth as a QB. On it, there was a small tidbit that resonated with me a lot. Simply stated, Cam has been audibling out of "bad" plays that have resulted in positive results. I mean, look at the Seattle game.

You clearly have little clue.  It is totally due to Shula given he taught Cam literally every thing he knows given he was so green when he got here.  Shula taught him how to study film, read defenses and audible into better plays based on the defense formula.  Shula was the one who took Chud's offense and made it simpler and more suited to cam's strengths.  Shula is the one who welcomed Cam's suggestions and his input which Chud did not.  Cam is simply doing what Shula taught him and by this year he has finally mastered Shula's offense and can audible without thinking about it.  If Shula left and took Dorsey with him, we would risk an Alex Smith reversion.

You are either a retard or just a blind Shula hater...

Chud's offense averaged 25 ppg with Gross, Smith, LaFell, Olsen, Shockey, Williams, Stewart, etc.

Shula's offense is averaging 29 ppg with Oher, Ginn, Brown, Olsen, Stewart, Tolbert, etc.

Technically, the "offense" is only averaging 18 PPG now... unless you are counting Gano or Norman as a part of the offense.

Gano I could see... but I am not going to look into field position stats that he benefits from that doesn't include the offense.

I still see your point though, and it is valid to an extent. However, I have some serious suspicions that Cam has more to do with our success than Shula does. There are a handful of plays each game that I see and immediately know they are Shula calls. They usually work out terribly.

oh I do enjoy it, don't get me wrong...

I just think the polarizing Shula stuff around here is unwarranted.

He isn't great. He isn't the worst possible OC ever.

But to attribute our entire offensive success to him? naaaahhhhhhhh

If you take into effect the field position we often get because of our defense forcing turnovers, and add in all the field goals our offensive numbers are pretty shitty and I blame that on Shula. I think he was a great QB coach and would be a solid assistant head coach but he is borderline awful when it comes to offensive play calling.

honestly I blame our lack of talent at the WR corps for most of our offensive woes, but I'm happy with our W's any way we can get them...

I don't think we have anyone fooled into thinking we aren't a "pound the ball on the ground/SKRONG defense" identity team.
