Most teams are successful in the no huddle offense....because it provides more favorable matchups as it prohibits the defenses ability to substitute.  They get stuck in certain personnel groupings.

Amazing how many people just do not understand "why" no huddles offenses are successful.

I know "why" a no huddle offense works, but thanks for assuming otherwise.  My point in that was that it is not a point in the game where you are crediting the OC as much as you are the QB.

Coaches coach and players play.. Give credit to the coaches for teaching the players..and give credit to the players for learning what they are being taught..

Believe it or not.. Shula had to teach Cam how to run the no huddle..

I mean, if Shula were to leave, we would have to hire someone from outside the organization as our new OC right?  I mean, Ken Dorsey (QBs coach), Ricky Proel (WRs coach), and Jim Skipper (RBs coach) wouldn't really be viable candidates for the position.  We do not have an assistant OC position on staff.

Would really be interesting to see this play out.  Hue Jackson, Mike Solari, David Lee, Tom Cable..... Some names we could look at for OC.

Slow down now.  This is just crappy speculation......

Hue Jackson wouldn't be an option unless he's out of contract (and doesn't get a head coach offer).

Give me Bengals QB Coach Ken Zampese, though.  Deep deep Coryell ties and has a record of success coaching a young QB.

When you say that our offense is successful despite Shula, you most certainly are completely discrediting Shula's hand in the offense.

As far as the head scratching plays..no one is perfect and there isn't another fan base or team that believes that every call the OC makes is great.  Its just like they say..when it works, you're a genius, and when it doesn't, you're a moron.

Winning really does mask EVERYTHING.. Think about all of the close games we've lost in the past.. It came down to a handful of plays..Those are the plays that we are making this year.  The difference is so small.  Look at our games this year.. they also came down to a handful of plays.  I can think of just a few plays that if we dont make them, our attitudes right now would be COMPLETELY different.

As for calling plays where Cam throws the ball 10+ yards in a 3rd and short..you HAVE to be able to do that.. If the entire defense is squatting on a 4 yard pass, its gonna be really hard to get a first down that way.  You HAVE  to be able to take what the defense gives and you HAVE to be UNPREDICTABLE at times.

I said he has improved but still makes really questionable calls.  You're in denial if you think otherwise.  It kills me how people want to completely forget about the terrible play calls Shula has made and continues to make. Not to mention his overly conservative play calls when we have a lead.  If you think this offense wouldn't run better with an OC like Hue Jackson, you're kidding yourself.  Shula is fortunate to have Cam, not the other way around.

Shula hasn't been overly conservative with a lead this year.

And all OCs make questionable calls

Shula is not as bad as some make him out to be but he is didn't just become great this year either. Cam and Shula work well together. With that said we would be able to replace Shula easily. He has not built anything spectacular he was just better that Chud.

Yes, they work well together and yes he should be easy to replace. But no, he isn't better than Chud. I don't see how there's any evidence to support that premise. Our offense was downright prolific with Chud. With Shula, it has been anemic at best until this season when all the pieces fell in place.

Let me put it this way, Chud made chicken salad with chicken poo. Shula had to have the chicken salad ingredients lined out for him and then instructions clearly outlined before he could actually make the dish. And even with all that, he still calls the stupidest plays at times

You keep bringing it up but... lol that's a load of rubbish. QBs like Steve Young and Kurt Warner have admitted on live air that there were times where they bailed their OC out of a horrible call. The meetings don't mean squat to me because Shula is finally catering to Cam (what he prefers, what he feels comfortable with). The No Huddle and Two TE Sets, for example, have aided him since 2011 but somehow we went away from that as soon as Shula was promoted. I'm sorry, but the only credit I give Mike for is that he finally started focusing on what made Cam feel 'at home'.

So would you guess that Steve Young and Kurt Warner think Shula isn't doing a great job?  I have a feeling they would say he deserves a TON of credit.  Lets try to not talk in absolutes... they admitted that there were TIMES when they bailed out their OC.. Thats doesnt mean that every time they audibled, it was because their OC didnt know what they were doing.  Nothing about what I have said is a load of rubbish.

In response to the part i bolded, THAT IS EVERY OC's JOB.  The ones that do this the best ARE THE BEST OC'S..
