Loved Hansbrough at UNC. Don't watch much NBA. Bizarre he didn't play much w/ Indiana or Toronto. Needs some minutes in Charlotte.

Lol, if you watched the nba, you wouldnt think it was bizzare.  He has the footwork of a newborn deer and the heart of a spaz.

And maybe Kemba...

LINSANITY!

Honestly, it wouldnt surprise me qnd although ive been a huge kemba fan since his college days, if we could get some asset for him and make due with Lin for now, we should...  he is what he is at this point.  Also, it may have been sped up by whatever happened there at the end...  if i read his lips correctly, kemba was saying "my knee."  Dont know if thats the one he had surgery on either.

And im a fan of Lin as well, but if hes the point for an extended amount of time, then Batum needs to help a lot more bringing it up.

I believe Kemba was in the game in that last Knicks possession so hopefully his knee is fine

A few observations:

- This is why the Hornets acquired Nicolas Batum. He is a much less flashy version of the player we all thought Lance would blossom into. Really hope we can keep him around as he's a guy we can build around (note: not a 'star' per se, but someone who is an integral part of a winning team, i.e. Portland)

- For years I have given Kemba the benefit of the doubt because of the garbage around him but with those excuses out the door the improved roster has only served to expose him as a weak link. It's painfully obvious now that he's not the answer at point (mind you, neither is Lin) and he and Al stick out like sore thumbs on a roster built to play in the "new" NBA. Those two need to be dealt with and the point position needs to be overhauled whether that's throwing a kitchen sink at Curry or through the draft or something, the incumbent just isn't working and really hasn't for awhile.

- Lin and Kemba are essentially the same style of player except Lin is a much better shooter and understands who he is as a player while Kemba plays as though he has MKG's measurables instead of the limitations of a 6'1 guard.

- You can see why Frank is still getting limited minutes. I hate watching Hawes, but Frank is still nervous and not very sure of himself on the court. Only ten games in, so I wouldn't worry. But if we're coming down the stretch trying to make the playoffs and Hawes is still getting more minutes, that's troubling, and yet another indictment on the front office.

- Marvin has developed a really nice role with this team. Not a fan of him starting or making 7 million a year but he does some good role player things. I'd like to keep him around, at a reasonable price, of course.

- This is definitely a roster in the midst of a transition so there will be bumps in the road but they are so much easier on the eyes than last season, win or lose. At the same time, talent-wise they aren't world beaters, so this season will consist of nights like the Bulls game juxtaposed against the Spurs game. I don't think 40 or so wins is out of the question now that "Alfense" is a thing of the past, but getting there won't be pretty. There's a brutal stretch of games coming up against teams that are just flat out better than the Hornets on paper.

Absolutely, Batum is the star version of a role player. He really passes well and is one of the few players on the team that isn't afraid to shoot open jumpers. Honestly, he was a big part of the reason Portland was good the last few years, with him setting up Aldridge, Lillard, and Matthews with some dimes. I really hope we resign him, it's very obvious he was hurt last year and that's why his numbers suffered.

Again, agreed. I thought the lack of anything around him (Hendo + MKG) made him a poor shooter since he was just taking bailout shot after bailout shot. But it turns out that he still does that, even in an offense with good passers. It's became pretty obvious to me that he is not and never will be a good passer, he just doesn't have the passing ability you need from the 1 spot. Batum has been an amazing distributor, and I'm at the point where I think he needs the ball mist possessions.

Agreed completely

Hawes is growing on me, which sounds weird I'm sure. He is a good passer (as evidenced by the pass he threaded to Zeller for the winner last night), and if he would stop being so hesitant to take threes, would stretch the floor very nicely. I think we should trade/buyout Jefferson, who is probably not happy with his role and we don't need him, and start Hawes. That would open up a lot of minutes for Zeller/Kaminsky and stop Jefferson from black holeing the ball for 12 seconds at a time. Obviously that's not ideal for the future, but I think it would make us way better this season.

Marvin has played really really well this season. He is definitely earning that 7 million salary this year, and I'm really glad he's starting. He is providing defense and rebounding, something we desperately need. I'm just shocked it's him giving it to us.

The upcoming schedule actually looks pretty light to me, we had a rough start with Miami, Atlanta x2, Spurs, Bulls x2, Wolves, even the Mavs are better than I thought. This doesn't look too bad to me, I think we'll get over .500 soon and if we keep playing like we have been we'll stay there. I think we'll win about 45/46 games this season.

Bulls

Blazers

Knicks

Nets

Sixers

Kings

I watched Hawes drain about six straight threes in warm-ups from different spots around the arc. He had a few opportunities in the game to shoot a three, but didn't take it. I wondered if coach tells him not to shoot or if he's just gun-shy.

Last night it was clear Lin is just a better fit than Kemba. Lin gets to the basket more aggressively, and can use his body to shield defenders. Kemba just kept bricking pull-ups around the free throw line. Lin made several plays on defense forcing turnovers, Kemba did none of that. Lin pushed the ball on fastbreaks, Kemba not so much.

I was impressed by Kemba's leadership. Even while he was on the bench, he was the vocal leader and genuinely excited for Lin and the guys in the game.
