Dish tv for internet service ?

Does anyone use dish or one of lthe other satellite services for their internet?  I am paying $50 a month for this currently

 

and right now they have a monopoly in my area so am thinking about going to dish.

Charter internet is great. Think before I got cable, my Charter bill was 40 bucks.

That is truly awful, especially for what you're paying. I've never used Dish TV for anything, but their website claims even their slowest package is better than what you have. If it isn't what they claim it is, you can always cancel in the first thrifty days.

I install dishnet. run as far as you can from it.  Its designed for people that live in the middle of no where and cant get anything else. Its for checking email and surfing the web. not much else.

the problem is speed. since its satelite based, there is a delay as you send info to the satelite, back to earth, back to the satelite then back to you.  Theres also a data cap just like with phone services.

Is it slower than the speedtest I posted above?  Also I dont watch a whole lot of movies or download any music - think I would max out on data?

could be. you will be locked into a 2 year contract if u dont like it.

I had dish internet a few years ago.  It sucks.  And forget about playing games, unless you like 600ms ping.
