Similar in gameplay.  Lots of side quests, similar styles (obviously, Bethesda RPG).  Fallout 3 is one of my favorite games of all time, and I played/loved Skyrim/Oblivion as well.

As for what to expect, kinda will sound weird the way I describe it I think?  Combine Mad Max, the Walking Dead, 1950s Americana, and some futuristic poo into an Elder Scrolls world and there you have it. Basically, you'll spend hours on hours finding loot, doing a ton of side quests, and shooting giant radiated monsters/people while WWII era music plays.

thank you, I'm in....once I find time to play

Took the week off for it, lmao. 33 hours in. It's not Fallout in respect to 1,2, NV and partially 3....but it's fun whatever it is. Lol

I see people saying that, but this is my first time playing Fallout.  What's changed?  It seems like people who have played older versions are still enjoying the game but they're a little upset.

Bethesda's version of the Fallout world is very black/white or good vs evil with no shades of gray. 4 is similar to 3 in that sense and it's really what makes them feel so different compared to the others.  It's mainly a tone thing for most of the fans of the original, thats why many of them like NV more then 3.

3 had a perfect fallout setting but that's about it.

NV is an example of the original tone and story style of the original 2 games and when you compare it to 3/4 you really get a sense that while Bethesda makes an amazing open world game experience they just simply don't get the Fallout universe.

It's why so many people are so negative against bethesda's versions. Not that either are really bad games, they just aren't really fallout games in the sense that they don't fit well with the other entries in the series from a story or writing perspective.

I highly suggest checking out wasteland 2 if you can get used to it's difficulty curve and gameplay style.

I've played way too much on my week off. With out giving too much, the main story is decent-good but doesn't fit with NV, 1 and 2 with how open they are. The sidequest are really well done though and the world is the star with Fallout 4.  Some really fantastic areas in the game that make you want to keep exploring and forgot all about that main story.

I'll end up Googling it, but I wouldn't have minded some help getting settlements off the ground to start.  Aka, I have no clue how to properly rig up electricity.

You have to have a power source, then you have to attach wires from the source to the item you want power to.

If it's a house you can connect a conductor connector piece to the outside and run the wire from the generator to the conductor piece.

That's a simple look at it, you can get complicated and set up a terminal to turn on/off switches and power and so forth.

I figured it out and started messing around with it when you unlock the minuteman settlement.

I'll post a few pics in a min from my main town/settlement.
