Seriously, how does it happen? (Visiting fans)

IMO, its a bigger problem for us than for other teams and their stadiums...  i think a huge problem is ao many of the PSL owners dont buy their seats because they're diehard fans of our team, but rather they see it as entry into a certain social status level and an investment as such.  If it was just one or two games a year, thats one thing, but for our fans to legitimately have to compete with opposing fans is a joke.  That should never happen and its embarrassing.

In summary, a great deal of PSL owners buy tickets for social status and likely never or rarely attend games, instead they hope for a successful year to drive up resell price and they cash in.  I think if they continue to do this, the Panthers should refuse to sell PSLs to theae repeat Benedict Arnold's, but just like we kissed the ass of those dumbfug racists who are crying because Cam took their sign down, we wont ever do that.

JMO, but our front office should look to make changes to our policies because that was the most embarrassed ive ever been as a Panthers fan watching and listening to that broadcast yesterday.  It has never sounded that bad.

There should be some sort of penalty for selling your tickets to visiting fans.

I second this. Idk how they could implement this though. Maybe the ticket scanners could be programmed with a simple check-mark prompt for whether a fan is wearing the visiting team's gear. If they are, the ticket would then be flagged as sold to a fan of the visiting team and traced back to its PSL owner. Steep fines would ensue for a flag threshold violation. So just as an example, if the PSL owner is flagged 3 times in one season, their license is revoked.

I would even be comfortable with it if the team took a game-by-game tally of flagged tickets and, if more than 15% of the fans at the game are supporting the opposition, every flagged account for that game gets slapped with a fine.

Obviously these changes would have to be written into the PSL contract and spelled out in large bold letters so no one can make a huge deal of it. But dammit there are plenty of Panther fans that would love those tickets. Obviously these scalpers aren't going to make the effort to make sure the tickets get in Panther-fan hands, so the onus is on the franchise to change this blight on the team culture.

Packers have a huge fan base and NC/SC is fairly big transplant area in addition to all the military bases that are nearby so Packers fans in the area want to take advantage of the opportunity to see their team in person so they bought these tickets almost as soon as the schedule was announced and people were putting them up for sale on stubhub and ticketexchange. The Packers fans will "take over" almost any stadium just like the Steelers and Cowboys fans do.

Say you lived in Arizona, I'd imagine almost every person here would pay a premium to go see the Panthers when they played at the Cardinals. Multiply that ten fold and you've got the Packers.

Packers fans who live in the Carolinas were willing to pay a premium to see their team play.

The tickets were going for over $200 for 500 level seats. A lot of Panther fans decided they couldn't pass up that kind of return on a $50 ticket. I just wish all Panther fans would try to sell their tickets to other Panther fans if they decide not to go or can't make it to the game.

We are 8-0 and trying to make a Super Bowl run. It's time to learn that if you can't pass up makin $1000 a season on tickets when we're good then don't buy them. I understand wanting to make a little money back if we suck...but we're the best team in the conference right now.

If you aren't going to go to Charlotte to see the 7-0 Panthers play the 6-1 Packers then you shouldn't buy Panthers tickets. It's embarrassing...

This. If Mr. Peanut can sell his fellow peanut friends into slavery, Panthers fans will inevitably sell their tickets for a profit. Capitalism.

In 1995, when the PSL program was announced Charlotte was a thriving economy with a lot of folks with disposable income. I would guess that many of those folks were in their 40s at the time, now in their 60s.  They didn't really buy into the franchise as much as they saw a good investment. Now that the team is successful, the market is there to make some money...combine that with Charlotte now being home to MANY transplants and you're going to have what we have.

It sucks, but it's the world we live in. When people say, "This fanbase sucks" I think that's an unfair statement. This is a direct result of the PSL program along with Charlotte being a city where it's ok to be a fan of another team. The only way to beat that is for the team to continue to win and people leave their old teams behind.

All you people complaining ... did YOU purchase tickets to the game? Were YOU willing to pay what the market demanded for those tickets? Are YOU willing to compensate PSL owners for passing up those prices in any way? If not, then you need to shut up. It's a free market thing and more times than not, I see fans on this board begging for free or discounted tickets from those of us who put up our hard-earned money for PSLs and season tickets ... as if being a Panthers fan entitles you to that. It doesn't. I'm not a rich person, and I'm certainly not the "corporations" that people complain about on here all the time (those corporations that purchased PSLs and helped get the team/stadium and continue to do so) ... I sell my season tickets at the beginning of the season to a Panthers fan for face value. I COULD hang onto them and take my chances for games like yesterday's, when I could probably make enough money on my four tickets to pay for most of the entire season, and I'm well within my rights as an owner to sell them to whomever is willing to pay market value. If that's a Panthers' fan, that's great and my preference, but again, many won't pay that. And, who's to say I sell to a Panthers' fan for face value and he/she doesn't turn around and sell for a major profit. It's happened to me before. Why should I let that happen, either? AND, who knows how the season would go? I could end up not making even face value on my tickets ... some seasons, I literally have had to BEG people to take free tickets to go to the games ... I'm taking the risk, and I should get the reward when it presents itself if I want, because I damn well take the loss when the season goes to hell. (Rant off)

So ... I'm sure I catch hell over this post ... but I'm tough. I can take it.

This.

Thats the part that trips me out and people are defending it like there is a legitimate reason Packers fans were taking over the stadium.   There is no excuse.  WE WERE UNDEFEATED AND PLAYING THE CONCENSUS SECOND-BEST TEAM IN THE CONFERENCE, ESSENTIALLY FOR HOMEFIELD ADVANTAGE  (if it comes down to that), AND YOU SELL THOSE TICKETS BECAUSE THEY FETCH A LITTLE MORE THAN USUAL?

I would hate to know these people in real life.  Absolutely no integrity, dignity, or loyalty.  Take a little pride in yourself and our team...  i mean, damn...

Here's an idea, if its that big of a problem for your budget, dont buy the PSLs...  let someone who will go every game and support our team buy them.

Not everyone on this board can logistically go to a single game each year, let alone every game...  but we damn sure expect those who buy those PSLs will do just that, and represent all of us.

fug a free market.  That's some bullshit...  if you can't afford the investment, then let someone else buy them.  You wanna play the stock market, go log on ETrade and stop allowing our stadium to get overrun with opposing fans.  There is no excuse for it.

I was among the FIRST to purchase my PSLs and have owned them since the beginning. Never plan to sell them. Will pass them on to my kids. Until a couple of years ago, I had NEVER missed a home game and went to many away games. I'm known as the biggest Panthers fan around. I haven't been able to attend games for the past few years due to health reasons. If/when I'm able, I will be right back there. I have attended Panthers games in total pain, in a cast, in a boot, getting there early and never leaving early.

I DIDN'T purchase my PSLs as an investment or to play the market ... and I have NEVER knowingly sold my tickets to opposing fans. BUT, it's still my right. You pricks who think it's a sin would NEVER buy my PSL or my tickets for what they're worth. You'd want me to give them away to "deserving" Panthers fans. Get over yourselves. Buy the damn tickets and go to the damn games yourselves. Don't bitch if someone else buys the tickets for what the market allows.

Did you miss the part where I said my season tickets are going to a Panthers fan? Why do you expect more of PSL owners than you do of yourselves?

Wow you're an asshole. Do you know why people beg for free or discounted tickets? Because most people can't afford to spend $800 to take their family to a game like yesterday's. People that would kill to have access to season tickets like you have.

You can see yourself as a smart free market capitalist that sells all of his tickets (although LOL at how stupid your investment is, so many better things you could do with that money if that's all you're trying to do) or you can be seen as a great Panthers fan. Can't be seen as both buckaroo.

Hope you enjoyed the money you made off yesterday knowing that your tickets could have been turned right around and sold to Packers fans. Hope the noise from the cheeseheads didn't bother you yesterday because you very well may have contributed to that.

Truth is that while I dont do it, I dont blame someone for selling their tickets to a few games to pay for the cost of the tickets for the season.  There are plenty of folks who sell two or three games and recoup the cost of the tickets for the whole season.  If you need the money and have the tickets it is a free market society.

Me, I brought someone to his first professional football game yesterday and gave him the ticket.  But part of living in a capitalistic society is that people have the right to do what they want and thousands of Panther fans took the money and sold them to Packer fans. I don't like it but I surely can't fault them.
