Anyone getting Black Ops 3?

I'm getting more used to it.  It's super fast pace, which I kind of like, but I do miss the more realistic (as much as it can be) aspects of it.  I think CoD needs to go back to WW2, would be a nice niche with everyone else doing this sci-fi stuff.   I'm getting Battlefront next week as well.

To those struggling with getting used to pace or maps or anything, I've just been very tactical in my approach. I stick to the edges of the map, mostly, and I clear my corners. If the map is chaos and your team sucks, this won't work as well because you'll get hit in the back. But I'm finishing above .500 consistently. Constantly moving forward. Work maps outside in if you're going to stay from the edge and know your fatal funnel spots.

I'm having a lot of fun playing at this point. Take the game for what it is and it's solid. Most people playing don't walk around with their sights up, so it leads to chaos spray, which leads to complaining about hit markers. That being said, there are instances where hit markers are killing me. I fire five shots center mass, they fire three into my knee and kill me.

I'm not going to repeat whatever else already said (I agree with pretty much all of it), but I will add that I really miss sniping.  Gone are the days where I could go 20-1 actually sniping.  You know, the days where you could find a nice spot without at least three entry ways and you would have to set up your own protection (claymores, etc).  Once you were in your spot, your sole purpose was to cover your team and the objective.  It saddens me that COD adheres to the quick scopers.  I don't think true sniping will return until a WW2 game is made again.  Yea, there's battlefield but I've always been a COD guy.

Well, I really WANT to like this game.  I'm not saying it's even bad.  I just don't dig it like I thought I would.  I agree, this isn't CoD, it's a mix of the other sci-fi shooters (and Titanfall did it better, imo).    I liked Titanfall because it made sense, and the mechs were great, but with CoD, I expect something different.  I'm going to give it more time the next few days/weekend, but I'm more excited for Star Wars and that may prompt me to just sell this on ebay I think.

I would give anything for a release with the original Modern Warfare and original Black Ops maps. Those were the good old days.

It's fun. I mean it won't win game of the year or anything, but as far as an online shooter goes, its cool.

It's something my fiance and I can play together as well, so that's a bonus.  Also, the games are like 5 mins which is nice because I can squeak a game in while waiting for my fiance to do whatever it is she does before we go somewhere.

I haven't touched the campaign yet.

I feel like every year there is less skill involved in CoD games.  It's like spawn, kill, someone spawn behind you, you get killed.  I know there IS skill but back on my favorite CoD, CoD4, spawns weren't as terrible and it felt like you earned kills more.

  • 2 weeks later...

I miss the days of bolt action rifles in COD. United Offensive on PC was my go-to back in the day. Would love to see them bring back WW2 where weapons were selected (at least on PC) based on maps. If the map was large, bolt action and snipers. Map small = assault rifles and sub machine guns. Every map seemed to have balance and locations that were favorable to how you wanted to play. Recoil was real so spraying was not really an option unless right next to someone. Rifles only was so damn fun.
