Sorry if this was posted yesterday. It's a pretty disrespectful respect article. 

What angered me the most wasn't really about us specifically...

Well, the NFC has more wins (5 more), but who's counting?

 

Cam Newton Can't Win, So He Stopped Losing Instead

It's a commentary on the general public's disdain of the Panthers.  We're not the flashy team everyone loves, we're the team that underachieved for the past few years.  We don't have the long term success of New England, the name of Payton Manning,  or the charming nick names of the Seattle Seahawks.  The article says that us and the Bengals are teams that people are watching, but just waiting for them to fold.

Keep watching, keep doubting.  Our Panthers will keep playing, fighting, and grinding out wins.  Put Tom Brady in our offense.  Put Payton Manning.  Put Russell Wilson here.  We wouldn't be undefeated.  We have a great D, a very underrated QB, and a team that has each other's backs.

Our wins don't generate the clicks of Kaepernick getting benched.  I'll take 7-0.  I'll take our ugly wins over pretty losses.  I think we all would.  The media loves to bash Cam, so the title is correct.  He can't win (with them) so he stopped losing on the field.

Couldn't agree more. I actually like the fact that we don't have too many huge names. Seattle won the SB with what some would argue to be no-name talent. New England has a bunch of white-guy slot receivers, and they keep winning. 

When everyone keeps wanting to trade for guys like Calvin Johnson, I cringe a little bit. For teams like Detroit with Calvin, or Minnesota with Adrian Peterson, or Arizona a few years ago when Fitzgerald was an elite guy, those teams don't really have a ton of success. You always end up forcing the ball to these all-stars; but when the other team finally takes them away, you're not left with much.

Just my $.02, but I think that there is something to keeping a balanced roster like ours.

Agreed.  History defines expectations.  If Carolina can string together 2 or 3 seasons with double digit wins the narrative will change.

When Steve Smith was the best WR in football, how many Super Bowls did we go to?  When he was part of a more complete team, that's when we went to the Super Bowl.  Stars are great, but you need a lot of solid help all around.  We're much closer to that 2003 team than we are to the Steve Smith dependent team of 2005.

Does anyone actually read Rolling Stone anymore? I thought they lost all relevance about the time U2 released Pop.

Rolling Stone, that paragon of journalism ("cough, cough"). I'm sure they know all about Justin Bieber and Kanye. The NFL...not so much.

The general public is slow on the uptake. They don't understand newly successful teams, and they don't believe in what they don't understand. They don't understand why we're winning, so they have no belief that our team will continue to win. They know next to nothing about the Panthers in the same way that I know next to nothing about the Cleveland Browns.

The media has a bias toward large market teams, and this adds to the ignorance of the general public. Even so called "experts" were picking teams like the Jaguars to defeat us before our long winning streak. Now that we're 7-0 there has to be a negative spin to put down our team. What could possibly be said? Well now you see the latest idea. The NFC is unusually bad this season, and the Panthers are reaping the reward. The Panthers are playing easy teams, and that's why they're winning. What about Seattle? Never mind that. It was luck. The media is pretty worthless and out of touch. If we go 16-0 then the media will trash this team in way we have never seen before. 

The best way to gain the respect of the public is to win the SB, or at least make it to the SB. How we're going to do that with Ginn and Brown I don't know. Cam is going to have to go berserk in the playoffs, and he might do just that with the way our team has been disrespected.
