Apparently there was one other game with 3 scores in overtime:  JAX v HOU in 2012.  Don't know the details.  See the discussion following the original tweet for more.

There may have been 3 scores but that doesn't mean that the team who was trailing first ended up winning. Could've been JAX kicked a FG first then Houston tied it then JAX won with another FG.

Houston scored first and third, so our stat might stand.

Hou FG

Jax FG

Hou TD

Regular season? Surely it's happened in the playoffs.

Just looked. Rules changed from sudden death in 2011. Only a few games (about 3) have gone to OT since then, and it looks like there hasn't been a situation where both teams scored in the playoffs.

Wow.  So,  we won in a way,  no team ever has before.  They really do just Keep Pounding!

Ha, well I can guarantee you there have been more than 3 OT games since 2011.  But it isn't an easy stat to check.

Grab all OT games since the rule change and match the final score with the 4th qtr score.  If the losing team has 3 more than their 4th qtr score then see if they received the ball first.  If the eventual winner has 2 scoring possessions then it was a comeback win, if not then scratch it.  Check them all and if no game matches said criteria then the Panthers were the first.

Wait what? So, you're tied going into overtime. If you get the ball first and don't score, the other team didn't come back. You can just look at the box score. If only one team scored in overtime, then no team came from behind in overtime.

OT's in playoffs since 2011:

2011:

Steelers-Broncoes - Broncos scored 6 in OT

NYG-SF - Giants scored 3 in OT

2012:

Ravens-Broncos - Ravens scored 3 in 2OT

2013: N/A

2014:

GB-SEA - SEA scored 6 in OT

Sorry, I guessed 3 games, but there have been 4. In zero games did both teams score in OT.

Ohhhh you were talking playoffs - I meant reg season and playoffs.

For a team to come from behind in an OT game though, you'd have to look at more than the box score though, since you'd have to establish that the losing team scored in OT and they were the first to score - so you'd need to see the box score of +3 in OT, plus the initial possession :)

True, but if you just go through box scores, and every game has one team with a "0" in their OT box (which is the case here), you can stop looking.

I'm saying that there hasn't been a situation where both teams scored...at all, let alone both scored with the second scorer winning...until last night.

Yea, those can be scratched immediately when trying to figure out if other comebacks had happened before the game last night.  It looks like that Houston game was the closest, but once you look at the scoring table:

http://espn.go.com/nfl/playbyplay?gameId=321118034

Hou never trailed.

EDIt:  which you can get from the box in this incident too.
