Did anyone else notice how Cam...

Seemed so calm and poised on those final drives?  No rushing, no worrying, just going out there and doing the job?

 

There are a lot of things that can be talked about that went wrong last night, but watching Cam last night and also in Seattle just step up and do the job is so awesome.

 

 

 

That was also probably as fired up as I've ever seen him at points last night when he was running all over him.

His first two seasons there were questions about his "clutch gene" and ability to get the win in big moments. He has silenced those critics and been lights out lately when his team needs him most. Man how I wish Ginn caught that ball... that would have been another unbelievable moment in Cam's young career. The walk-off home run ball on MNF. He was as clutch as it gets at Auburn and he's learned to win close games at this level. I'm not sure it's something that can be taught and he's continued to raise his level of play when the lights are brightest.

For me, in OT I was saying 'just give Cam a chance'. Maybe I was rattled by the defense giving up points late, but I felt more confident in Cam than I did the defense.

It was tough to watch Ginn drop it, but what a throw from Newton on that one.

That is one of the best I've seen Cam throw, he threw it with pinpoint accuracy after having to rush the throw with a defender barreling down on him right in his face. These are the types of throws that the best in the game make. Sadly, Ginn couldn't come down with it, but the ball was placed perfectly.

He could have easily packed it in after the Ginn drop. Teddy too for that matter. But both made plays on the final drive.

I was in 139 and sitting in the corner that ginn was running toward. And let me tell ya, when he let that thing fly from the 45 yard line, it was a thing of beauty.

Cam held his composure.  He had some bad throws, some overthrows, but the rain was killer and let's be honest, on that interception Ginn could have tried to break it up instead of just standing there like a dummy.  But second half, Cam was clutch and that pass to Ginn, on the backfoot and with pressure, was amazing, and Ginn blew it.  Not to mention Olson's drops.  Cam was playing pretty well for the most part.

Remember, a lot of potential 4th Qtr/late wins Cam could or should have had his first two years were lost by the defense and bad clock management/decisions by Rivera as we he was learning how to coach. A  lot of that gets missed by 95% of national reporters who don't follow the team as we do.

I think Cam Newton is going to have probably the most interesting biography once he hangs his cleats up.  

For years, people have played Cam's "swag" as arrogence, as being a jerk, as being fake.  But I think for Cam, the "swag" runs much deeper, personal.  Sure, when he came in, he thought he was going to become the best in the league.  He was ORoY, set records, was one of the new faces of the NFL.  Then came some struggles, the boo birds at home, the doubt.  But Cam has always had this inner confidence.  It rubbed folks the wrong way, but now we're seeing the benefit.

He doesn't give up, he doesn't give up on his guys.  Miss a ball?  Tip for a pick?  Don't matter, if you're open, he will let you make a play.  Man, what a wonderful leadership trait that is. That's a special kind of confidence that few in the NFL have.  Few in the NFL can elevate their players the way Cam has done.

Good scouting or plain Luck (hahahaha....terrible, I know!), we have something very special in Cam Newton.  Man, what a GREAT time to be a Panther fan!!!

I agree...I can tell he's grown up a lot ....

 

I admit....I got a little teary when the ball went through the uprights at the end.....I am proud of our team :)
