I know a lot of folks still remember this moment (and do so rather angrily).

If you're one of those, you'll appreciate this story.

Per NFL Network this morning, 49er QB Colin Kaepernick was benched at the urging of his teammates.

Apparently there was an angry outburst from several players recently that occurred after Kaepernick left the locker room (unknown if he said anything to provoke it). During this brouhaha, a bunch of 49er players declared their belief that it was time for their franchise quarterback to take a seat on the bench.

Think the locker room doesn't matter? Think again.

According to Mike Triplett of ESPN.com, a stat change by the Elias Sports Bureau took away a pair of records Brees had apparently set during a 52-49 win over the Giants. A fourth-quarter fumble by receiver Willie Snead was corrected to an interception, since there was some question about whether he had control of the pass. That cost Brees a 6-yard completion, meaning he completed 39 passes for 505 yards instead of 40 for 511.

That’s only significant as both were new career highs for Brees. He still tied a league record with seven touchdown passes, so there’s probably a ceiling on how bad he’ll feel.

The Saints are appealing the ruling...

I remember how lame it looked.

I never thought Kaepernick was good, he just had a really good team and coaching staff around him.  The 49ers defense and offensive talent was crazy from 2011-2013.

Cam has succeeded despite not having either at times.

The best part about this? He was benched for Blaine Gabbert the day before his (Kaepernick's) birthday. Happy birthday Colin!
