We need to trade for some WRs

Definitely man.  He has  pretty good speed and he's very physical so kind of fits our MO.

Yea but the Skins are in the thick of things in their division, so I'm not getting my hopes up. Same with Matthews, he earned big playing time despite getting sunk on their depth chart in the offseason.

I totally agree.  I don't think any fires will be started either..just two that make a bit of sense.  All I ask is that we try to buffer than weaponry a bit.

Alshon is a proven commodity.....he's a big target, he's got good speed, he's got good hands, and he's still in his prime.  We gave up a 3rd for Olsen and he has been well worth it.  I'd gladly give up a 3rd if we signed Alshon to an extension before the trade.   It won't happen but it's my pipe dream.

That's what I was thinking about too, but why would the bears trade away their only good wide out? I just don't see it. Although a third for Alshon would be fair on both ends. This makes too much sense. I doubt it happens. :/

Completely disagree.

If there is a trade to be made, we need a pass rusher.

I don't understand this type of thinking.  Our defense is already stacked and we have pass rushers that will return from injury by the playoffs.  Another pass rusher would be be nice but it is a luxury, not a necessity.

Sooner or later a good defense will listen to the morons on ESPN and actually figure out how to negate Greg Olsen.  When that happens, we have no "go to" guy when we need a big play on 3rd and 8 with the game on  the line.  Cam is great but we can't keep leaving his ass hanging out in the wind expecting him to carry this offense.  Get that man some talent to shoulder the load.  I'm not a Ginn hater but let's face it......he couldn't crack the top 5 WRs in Arizona and he dropped a wide open game winner last night (which is exactly what he is known to do).  He's a complimentary receiver, not a #1 guy by any stretch. If we blow opportunities like that against good playoff caliber teams.....mark my words, it will haunt us when we're in a lose and go home playoff situation.

TBQH I would love to see us go after a WR and a pass rusher before today's deadline.

Our guys on D were clearly gassed last night, and our WR corps are pretty much weak sauce.

People lately have been praising Gettleman for some of his moves, etc. and it is usually well deserved but, I am sorry, the Kevin Norwood trade seems like a total bust and a terrible move at this point.

I get that the staff is okay with Ginn/Brown/Funch/Cotch, but none of them are even above average WRs at this point in their careers. Ginn/Brown have speed. Funch has size. Cotch has experience. Bersin never sees the field at WR anymore.

Sure, Seattle in the past several years, and New England to an extent too, have won Super Bowls with less or equitable talent to what we have, but it scares me in situations like last night (bad weather, run game getting contained, TE getting ghost flags, us on the ropes because the D is gassed) because I don't know if I can trust those guys enough to get open and make big plays.

Yes, we are 7-0. I am totally happy and accepting of that, but as you approach the deeper part of the season, you are going to have to start showing constant improvement to continue to win those close games. Staying the same and not adapting doesn't get you too much if everyone around you is progressing.

Offense is putting up 27 points a game.

Say what you want about the receivers, that is more than good enough average to win.

Our pass rush is not consistent.  Our defense gets exposed when our defensive line gets tired.

We had to blitz to even get pressure on the qb last night.

Let us ignore that though.

Ultimately, none of this matters, as the Panthers won't be making a trade anyways.

Pantherclaw, I like your posts and respect your opinion but we will simply have to disagree on this one.  I feel like the biggest weakness on our team is WR and in a dream scenario, it should be our biggest priority for immediate success this season.

I hate it when people post random stats like "27 points per game"...... That has nothing to do with where we rank in passing, or even more importantly, where we rank in passing to our WRs.  Sheesh....

Anyway, you're right....it isn't happening and I don't want to argue this point anyway.

We average 27 points per game because of our rushing and our defense. All the takeaways we get from our defense gives the offense great field position. Our passing attack is one of the worst in the league and it is 95% on the WRs

Ding Ding Ding!!!!!!  You're absolutely correct and it's a little suprising that you have to spell it out to other panther fans.

I'd say fug it and trade for Alshon. Who cares if he's a free agent next season? This is the closest we've been to a Super Bowl in years and our WRs are dragging us and our star QB down. I'd like to think we are built for long term success, but you never know. Teams like San Fran, Detroit, San Diego, Indy, and KC all probably thought they were too but their window for success is closing or is closed and they have no Super Bowl rings to show for it. Time to get ours
