Bar and Man Cave Almost Finished

Jimmy

Almost finished with my bar in the man cave.  Need to drill a couple holes for a couple of taps and build a couple of shelves.  Need to get a couple of cheap bar stools that I can wood burn the Panthers logo on.  Get some more pics on the wall, some rope lighting and hook the fish tank up (with BoAas the backdrop), a tv behind the bar, and I'll be closer to having this thing done.

I love building man caves, I have been involved with not just building mine, but other friends as well. I hope it's ok I give you some feedback?

Bar looks solid, make sure it's bolted to the floor and/or the wall for safety.

Are you putting a foot rail on it?  It adds a nice touch and makes it more comfortable.  They can be made easily and cheaply using 1 inch galv pipe from lowes, they will even thread the pipe for you so it all screws together, very easy!

Lighting is very important.  I would not recommend rope lights.  Rope lights are very outdated now that we have cheap LED technology.  IKEA has some great options that lets you customize the color of the light and looks really good.  There are tons of LED lighting websites that makes it easy to buy.  Consider lighting under the bar on patrons side, as well as lighting on the bar tenders side so you can see what your doing. Also consider some drop down pendent lights that can be dimmed.

Not a big fan of all your pictures behind the bar for decor.  I would remove all of the diplomas and build out shelves for your bottles.  You can even put LED lighting in the shelves to make your bottles glow.

I would also paint the walls a different color or put up some wood paneling.  Less busy is best for wall decor.  That fishtank will be dope!  Make sure you have good lighting for the tank as well.  Is it possible for you to raise it up a few inches?

All in all, I think you have a great space and have a great start.  You will certainly enjoy it!

Thanks for the input Hotsauce.  A little background on my space. Our basement flooded a year ago when the water main in the front of our house burst. Insurance company came in, dried it out, drywalled, put in new carpet, paint, and trim. The reason I couldn't get them to put exactly what I wantede down there is because they had to fix it back to it's original design, etc. But everything down there is brand new and I'm happy with it.  The color scheme was a compromise with the wife and resale considerations, it will change eventually, I just have to wear her down.

I am putting a foot rest on the bar and the galvanized piping is a great idea, I'm assuming I can get an elbow piece to run it arouns the side as well?

The pics for the most part are Army related and they'll stay, have some family stuff up as well (fishing, sports photos, etc.) and they'll stay.  I will probably reposition everythign on the walls once I figure out the location of the second TV. I have shelves onthe opposite wall for bottles (not pictured).  Raising the fishtank a few inches would help, it's 55 gallons so I'll need to reinforce it somehow (full it weighs aorund 550-600 pounds).

LED lighting at Lowes (and other box stores) is expensive as fug, I went and looked at that today.  Maybe I can find some alternatives online.

All in all it's a work in progress and this crap costs money.  It'll take some time and hopefully be what I am envision it to be in my head...I jsut need to figure out where the stripper pole needs to go.

dude, awesome. that bar looks legit. you built it yourself i assume?

i built one into my first house. i can't find the completed version but here's the rough cut. i more did it just to do it even though the space wasn't configured for it well at all... in a few years when i build on a piece of property i'll design a bar space into the plans and customize it. i love the dark wood, low light look like hotsauce has going on.

Has the makings of a sweet set up.  Props to your wife for letting you install a bar on the new carpet.  You have it better than a lot of us.  My only note would be to hide those wires in the wall; it's probably the easiest and cheapest aesthetic upgrade you can do.

I like it. Just a couple of thoughts, when you burn this Panthers logo are you going to finish it so that it's smooth? Can I dress as Issiac and stand behind the bar?

Yeah a little polyuerathane, bring that Issac porn stache withyou though
