What do you think of bandwagon fans?

The fan base needs to grow. I'm sure others will come along and say that they need to stick through lean years to become "real" fans. Or they have to know team history to be "real" fans.

But the bottom line is that you're seeing all these new fans NOT because of the teams recent success but because of the singular efforts of Zach Lutrell and Jeremy Igo. Singularly. Maybe a little PhillyB and SCP.

No I was not paid for this message but would like to be. Repeatedly.

I think some of you sound like that overly jealous girlfriend that gets pissed when another chick talks to her man. There is enough fandome to go around and growing the fanbase is beneficial to the team. If bandwagon fans put a$$es in seats and infuses the team with cash, I'm good with it. Growth is positive!

Not everyone can be a home town fan so everyone will have bandwagoners. But  the Panther bandwagon is the best one to join.

But I am a true fan born and raised.

Steve Smith is the GOAT and Deshaun Foster is my guy on Sunday even though he retired like 3 years ago.

Just thinking about it like this. If you are a redskins or cowboys fan living in NC or SC. You probably would want to jump ship and become a Panthers fan. Just for the simple fact that you would be so frustrated with both those organizations. And their recent losing history. That it would feel better pulling for a winning team from your home state.

I hate bandwagoners, but I will grant a few exceptions:

a) If your team picks up and leaves (i.e. what the Supersonics did) you have every right to choose any team you want.

b) If you discover that at an organizational level you can no longer support that team on a good moral conscience, i.e. if Donald Sterling hadn't stepped down and you were a Clippers fan. Similarly, but definitely reviewable on a case by case basis, if said organization is so dysfunctional that being a fan of that team genuinely brings unhappiness into your life.
