IF the Panthers were to trade for a veteran receiver, it should be Anquan Boldin

Same. Makes too much sense not to

Forreal.  The defense is stacked and ready to contend for a Superbowl this year.  On offense?  We're lacking that one big-bodied WR that can take some pressure off Olsen and be reliable enough to make a crucial catch at the end of the game.  Boldin has done it time and time again.  Do we really want Cam forced to throw to 21 year old raw-as-fug Devin Funchess with the game on the line in the NFC Championship game because Greg Olsen has 3 guys covering him?  In the Superbowl?  We need a big bodied, reliable vet WR, and Boldin is the best choice out there.

I'm sure a 6/7 would get him.  The 49ers are done.  They know it.  Any picks are helpful when rebuilding.  I'm pretty sure they've paid his salary and he's a FA after this year so that's that.  I doubt he'll resign there with a rebuilding team and a QB that can't pass.

I definitely would be open to this for the right cost.

We have the talent in place to make a run this year, WR is a glaring weakness that with another piece in place could get us over the hump. When we start playing the best competition in the league, you can bet your ass they are going to exploit our weakness at the position. This kind of move would negate that substantially. It's something we honestly at the very least need to consider, and kick the tires on.

AJ Klein for Boldin and Vernon Davis.

Too early in the season to trade Klein away. We all saw Luke hit the turf and look injured on Sunday night. There was a big sigh of relief when he came back in, but if he can't... Klein is mighty fine as a back up.

Honestly, Boldin has a lot of tread worn off of his tires and he's not lighting it up in San Fran at the moment. He could be better than he's playing purely because of how bad the 49ers are, or he could have been good before because of how Harbaugh coached. They let Boldin go in Arizona and Baltimore when he was younger and faster.

Just saying, someone young and good would be a better grab by a long shot.

The 49ers are dumpster fire with a terrible QB, it's not Boldin's fault at all.  He still shows flashes.  He's still immediately better than anyone on our team catching passes that isn't named Olsen.  That's all that needs to be known for a one-year rental.

Boldin was let go in Arizona because they had Fitzgerald and they weren't going to break the bank for TWO receivers.  Fitz was just younger and better.

Boldin is never open but he's always open.. Regardless of coverage, draped all over him or not, he catches the ball. Dude's a beast, no 2 ways about it....

Anybody else remember him getting his jaw restructured without pain killers so he could get back on the field? They said he'd have been out 6-8 weeks if he used a sedative, but he went in for surgery & was back in 2 weeks, to play the Panthers... I think that was the year we lost to them in the playoffs....

If we trade for, or pay big bucks in the offseason for, too many guys who "still flash" we might make it to the Super Bowl. And then we'd flash. Some of those old dawgs are going to be worn out, some are going to act like they made it happen and demand the big contracts. Some will just go on to the next highest bidder.

Let's work with what we've got, it seems to be doing quite nicely. Build a team for a decade, not just for this season.

Yep and he had 2 touchdowns that day as well.

Boldin is kind of like Olsen in the sense that neither of these guys will "wow" you with their speed but both guys are smart with their route running, both have good hands and both know how to get open.

Boldin is slow as fug now but we don't need him to be fast.  We need him to make tough catches over the middle of the field on third down, and that mofo is one of the toughest WR's in the game.
