Could Colts history be repeating itself?

Yes.  Peyton was like 35 already (at least) and had a serious injury that made it questionable he'd still be able to play.  Luck is significantly younger and his injury significantly less serious.

And his contract will be significantly expensive, even coming off a down year.

Again, I don't really see it coming true, but stranger things have happened.

Doubtful the Colts have a high draft pick this upcoming draft as they will likely still win their division, make the playoffs, and end up having to draft around 25th much like we did last year despite the poor record.

Possible.

I'm amused by the conceivable outcomes though, especially given the parallels.

There is absolutely no way they get rid of Luck even with a complete front office change. Luck is still generally considered as being one of the best young QBs in the league. I know some people here quibble with that assessment but that's the accepted narrative in the league. No one is going to want to be the guy who got rid of a top 10 QB.

Additionally, Luck's ceiling is very high. Even if he never gets better, the organization will stick with him trying to find the one thing that will cause him to finally click. Because it's fugging to find a quarterback with the potential Luck has.

My take also.

But to be fair, did anyone see them dumping Peyton Manning?

Yeah, Manning was hurt, but he also meant way more to the organization then than Luck does now.

Is it completely out of the question?

In fairness Manning was old and it was known he only had a few years left. If it went down the way it did and Manning was 27, no way would they have let him go.

Maybe if they could get some Herschel Walker/RG3 haul like three firsts three seconds and three thirds the *maybe* they even consider it.

But let's be honest, has Luck shown anything to warrant a team to offer that at this point, especially knowing the contract he's gonna need very shortly?

Not in my opinion.
