I'm only a casual baseball fan, but gotta rep the Royals for what they've accomplished (and will ideally continue to accomplish this week) after 30 years of futility. These guys remind me of Carolina in that their style is against the grain of current trends in the sport, though much more so last year than this year, but the guys have completely bought in and never give up.

I love their bullpen, it is ahead of its time.  At one point you needed a top closer, then it was a top closer and set-up man, now  you need your seventh inning guy to be elite.

The Mets blundered this one away tonight, but they got a bit lucky with that second HR anyway. Difficult to see the Royals losing the next 3, even with the strike zone differences...

The Mets need their big three to sweep the next three.  Unlikely but it is hard to see a team better prepared to do it.  One more win, good luck Royals!

as someone without a horse in this race its pretty hypocritical for royals fans to bitch about being thrown at considering they did that poo all year in the AL Central and threw at Donaldson multiple times and told him to quite whining when he complained about it. can't have it both ways.

Right or wrong, I think fans are more annoyed at the loss than anything - 30 years of losing (plus the Chiefs' decades of playoff futility) has folks starving for a WS win. Had KC won I don't think we'd be hearing much about it at all, so some folks have to grab onto something since they didn't.

Either way, it's 3-1 now and this city is going to explode if they pull it off.
