Opinions: Was the last FG a wise call?

What is more likely to happen?

Blocked FG that is returned for a touchdown.

or

Go for it on 4th down and fail and the other team go 90 yards in less then 30 sec with no time outs if I remember correctly.

I would have kicked it but it would not surprise me if the other decision was actually the better choice statistically.

I disagree.

You see NFL teams march the length of the field with short amounts of time all the time.

You even see FGs blocked at times.

What you rarely see is FG blocks returned for TDs.  Unless the ball bounces *perfectly* after a block, the usual result is a scrum for the ball.

Rivera just has to coach the guys up and tell them to snag the man who is jumping...even if he just grabs his leg its a penalty on the defense not offense...

So from now on I'd punish fools trying that bullshit....take a super fall from that height a few times you'd rethink that.

yes it was a good call.. you up by 8.. so even if they block it and run it back, score, AND get the two point conversion. its only a tie game.. at which point you have to drive down and at least kick a field goal (and hope you dont get picked off, or they score again somehow)  if you make the kick...its a two score game... so yes.. the answer in that situation is to kick it.  even if you up by 7 instead of 8 you make it a two score game...

....simpler answer.... dont let these Shitty teams hang around so damn long

The announcers over-analyzed the hell out of the decision to kick the FG, and that's why people are talking about it. it was the right call. Eagles had a good play in but the guy whiffed (and should have been flagged, btw).

can't argue with being a two score game vs one score.

Disagree with what? I said i would probably kick it.

My point was that statistically the decision was probably closer then most people realize.

90 yards in 20 secs with no timeouts isn't something you see "all the time", and that doesn't factor in the chance of actually converting the 4th down.

A couple of years ago the damn Huddle would have exploded when we have a chance to salt the game away and we chicken out and run it and give the ball back.

I would figure out a way to stop that leap.   Have the center lift up quickly or change the snap count to ruin the timing.

It appears all special teams go on the same snap count.
