Not sure if this is true (re: Eagles)

Skimmed the official Eagles boards for a little bit tonight, and saw something from a couple of fans that I have a hard time believing.

They said Chip Kelly doesn't game plan for specific opponents. He just implements his offense and runs it the same way every game.

That's a tough one to buy into.

Anyone else seen anything about this?

It's accurate. Hell, they've only got something like 20 plays in their playbook with only 4 of them being runs which goes up to 8 if you count flipping them to run it to the other side.

His philosophy is that with a small playbook you can perfect those plays through repetition rather than having a huge playbook with a bunch of plays you don't run that much.

And if they don't drop 9 balls?

Playing the "if" game is a slippery slope.

Yea we dropped passes too...ours led to INTs though which directly led to points for the Eagles...so yea if we play the if game they don't even score...

I was just talking about 1 play that Luke usually makes easy.

He is a college coach running a college offense with a pro set qb.  Nothing to see here--

There is no way they watch Panther film without game planning against them.  Maybe Chip doesn't, but I assure you that his coaches do.

But even at the college level, you'd still game plan. Wouldn't you?

Don't think I'm questioning or doubting you, but I'm wondering where you get that info?

This article has the information

"This past season, we finished second in the country in rushing the football," Kelly said. "We average 6.2 yards per carry. We have four running plays. We run the inside zone, outside zone, counter, and draw."

Ouch.

Particularly this part...

Kelly insists that the problem is still just "execution" and "coaching," but the Eagles are 0-2 and have looked completely outmatched in both games. If things don't turn around this season, the grumblings will get louder from those who feel Kelly's style won't work in the NFL.

I've never been a big Kelly fan, but after that, yeesh.

To be honest, I actually think the offense is "working" really well. Drops, bad throws and bad blocking are what's killing them. All execution. Coach Chip is doing fine. GM Chip should be fired.

Can't separate the two unfortunately.

For a simplistic scheme to work in the NFL, you need superior talent. The graphic they showed last night aout all the talented players Kelly's parted with over the past few years was stunning.

So back in 2011, which is when Luck made the decision to stay in school, his dad knew who would have the number one pick in 2012?

Oliver Luck long ago discredited the idea that Andrew staying in school had anything to do with the Panthers.  People need to let that stuff go.

If you want to dislike Luck, at least do it for something that actually happened. This spurned prom queen narrative that's been stuck in people's heads since 2011 is silly.

If the Panthers were allegedly so unstable that it would be more beneficial to take chances with whomever has the #1 pick would be the following year, it stands to reason that any team (which ended up being the Colts) would be considered more stable.

I'm sure that Scott Fowler's article was good enough for you, but to not believe that there wasn't any concern about the state of the franchise is not a huge stretch of the imagination. It seems even less realistic that they never talked about the condition that the Panthers were in

But hey, that was all debunked because Oliver North denied it in an article. Kind of like all of that Greg Hardy domestic violence was debunked because he denied it in court.

The irony of this thread.
