Thomas Davis was on a Mission

I have been watching football for many many years.   I have seen linebackers like Mike Curtis, Singletary, LT and many others.   I cannot ever recall a linebacker destroying ball carriers in a more vicious manner than TD last night.   We have seen some great LBs get 10-15-20 tackles in a game but good god.   TD was hitting ANYONE with the ball with power and passion rarely seen for 60 minutes in a game.

You young fans have witnessed one of the truly gifted LBs in this game.  Lead by example.   Mayo, Klein and Shaq are learning the ropes from two of the best linebackers to ever wear a Panther Uniform.  Colinsworth commented that it was amazing he could cover so much ground and still load up for a bone crushing hits.   You can bet your ass those guys will wake up tomorrow morning sore from TD and LUKE hits.

TD doesn't have Pro Bowl appearances but he is one of the best I have ever seen.  Add the three ACLs and he is a marvel and an HOF caliber LB.

This may have already been brought up in another thread but I didn't see it.   For those that can't stand repeat threads. Get over it.

It is true that we are a small market team, but the super stars we have drafted actually want to stay here. Players like Thomas Davis are the reason why. We have built a culture in large part because players like Davis and Gross. TD is incredibly underrated, but our guys know hes one of the absolute best in the game. And now we see Cam and Keek signing long term extensions... just a few of many more to come. TD will help us build long term contenders. God bless that man.

I debuted my new Thomas Davis jersey at the game last night and the man played like he was ON FIRE.  Just about every tackle had TD or Luke making the play but GOODNESS, TD was laying the wood last night.  He was the boogeyman to the Eagles offense last night.  He is the heart and soul of this defense and it's a CRIME that he has never been in the ProBowl.  This man deserves EVERY accolade as he is the most underrated LB playing in the NFL.  He is a great leader and teacher to the young men of this team and of this league.  Yeah TD - I see you!!!!  I feel that heart thumping hard and I pray you get that ring!  Wow…Panther Nation - we have been VERY blessed to have this man in black and blue.  #KEEPPOUNDING.  Yeah, this man is the live example and embodiment of that moniker.

    • When we drafted Luke, we already had Cam, Smith, Olsen, Stewart, Deangleo, Gross, Kalil, CJ, Hardy, Beason, TD, Gamble (and maybe more I'm forgetting), we had a lot of great pieces in place. Going pure BPA for a player with Luke's potential when the LB you already have is different when you already have all those pieces in place.  Our OL right now is probably in a better shape than that team and our RBs and TE have potential compared to proven vets back then, but after that, the 2012 roster was in a far better shape than we are right now. We need a #1 WR, DEs, LBs, DBs, C, and depending who you ask a QB.  Going BPA at pick #5 when that player is a DT and your current best player on either side of the ball is a DT, seems irresponsible. If he's the only player they like that high left, then you trade back and go with position of more need at a slot that makes sense for the player while adding other picks.  If you trade back and he falls because other teams don't need/want a DT, then you consider him at that point because of the value.
    • This sounds like the same back and forth when we drafted a LB when we already had a LB or as mentioned prior back to back DLs. I want the BPA, if it is another DT so be it. (No not a kicker/punter for those people that think they are funny))
    • I’m hoping SMU messes it all up and wins out. Imagine the SEC & BI0 would crap themselves trying to “fix” the problem.
