Winning but our WR s are Horrible

Hey lets bring back LaFell.  He only had 4 drops today.  FOUR!!!!.

I don't see how in the hell the refs gave that call to the Eagles.  Ginn was flat on his back with the ball still against his chest.  What was his name on the Giants had the SOB against his helmet and once he hit the ground and touched he was down.

Funchess is growing.  Two games in a row he has come up with a play (after a critical mistake) that helped seal the game.

Ginn and Brown were balling and I had no Qualms about either.

Damn it, this game isn't freaking Madden 2016.  I swear 95% of the bitchin and moanin probably come from guys that play that freaking game.

Funny how, as much as some want to bail our receivers out with the "Cam throws too hard and wild" excuse, Greg Olsen has very little issue catching passes from Cam.

Our receivers aren't great, but they're good enough for what we do. Cam misses when he can't get set and throw daggers. Otherwise, Cam puts balls where his guy gets it or nobody does. He does not like to throw soft and inside. He didn't in college, he doesn't now. He's going to stick passes in hard and fast and not risk giving defenders time to break on it on anything inside the numbers. Just how he has always thrown. Downside to that is less passes get dropped and fall. The velocity causes them to pop up, which can lead to them being picked...which is why receivers catching the pass is so important.

Even if we had 2002 Randy Moss, 2003 T.O, and 1995 Jerry Rice in the slot we would run the same type of offense. Rather or not we win the Super Bowl won't depend on Philly Brown or Ted Ginn. It will be on the O-line to protect Cam and open running lanes for Stew. Yes our WRs suck but we can win with them.

They've gone mostly for guys with big strong hands.  Makes it easier to catch those fastballs.

I think Funchess is still adjusting on that front, but I'm not worried. He'll get there.

Olsen has 9 years NFL experience. Funchess has 6 games. If you think they should have equal catching ability, I know a prince in Nigeria that will make you rich for a small fee selling cheap high quality jerseys made in China sewn together by hot Chinese women with pointy elbows

I'm not saying Funch should be catching at the same level as Olsen. Quite the contrary. Thought I made it clear that Funch needs to develop.

I am saying that it's not just "Cam throws too hard and wild" as some here suggest. We have seen our receivers drop dimes placed in the bread basket, in stride. We have seen them drop soft lobbers on the outside. And they drop some that are drilled into their chest. To suggest that our QB throws too hard for our WRs to catch is an insult to our receivers, even if they're not as good as a lot of NFL caliber receivers. They're still NFL receivers and thus, are still expected to catch darts from our stud QB. Is there an understanding that they won't as consistently as Olsen based on the fact that they are average talent? Sure. However, if our TE can catch the same passes that our receivers are getting, Cam isn't the problem as far as them not catching the ball is concerned.

I think you're expecting way too much of guys who are not both as talented and as experienced as Olsen. Have you also considered where Funchess is making these drops? It's during the most dangerous routes a WR is asked to. Over the middle. Where the safeties love to de-cleat WRs. I'm willing to cut the guy some slack if he's got a 90 mph fastball from Cam's cannon coming his way and he's not as cool under fire about getting nailed by the free safety. Cuz it's only his 6th game. Of his rookie year.

Btw, Iggles had more dropped passes than we did.

Can anyone with a straight face name the Seahawks WRs in the past two superbowls

Well, I could name them, but last year's group of receivers were trash for them.  2 years ago though, they did have Harvin, but he was kinda poo coming off an injury in the playoffs.  The one thing we have that they didn't though is Olsen.  Olsen is a better Tight end than any they've had during their super bowl runs.

Ted Ginn is playing fantastic ball right now and is doing it against the opposing teams #1 Corners.  People aren't gonna say that Ginn is a #1, but he's playing the role well enough to give space to the other receivers on the field, and honestly, that's all we really need.  When you consider that we have a group of #2's and #3's, for them to perform at the level they can and need to, we need to get them in favorable matchups (against #2, or Nickel corners), and Ginn is taking the pressure off and giving them that option.

I thought Ginn made some solid catches last night on some tough slants. Even Philly made a couple catches with his hands.

But with that said Philly has got to be the weakest WR in the league with the ball in the air. Attacking the ball and catching it at its highest point seems to not be in his repertoire.

And just maybe we should quit throwing to Funch across the middle he looks good on the deep outs. Across the middle not so much. Plus when he tips it in the middle there's a 75% chance it's picked off.

Olsen playing like a Pro bowler.  It is what it is. But sure wish KB was out there. This receiving core wouldn't look near as bad with him on the field.

    • For the silly people that worship her it will be that.  The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
    • You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance. You act like there is no improvement on offense here--it was a 2 year process, and next year is year 2.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jone's problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.
    • I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game.  3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
